It looked like he was forced off by someone else. And he likely would not have been DQed, especially because it happened on a straight, not a curve. He should have just gotten back on the track as soon as possible and made his case to the officials
Everyone coping by saying how happy Jakub will be with this race but no one was laying out this scenario as one he'd be happy with pre-race? All the talk was that he'd just beat Kerr and move on.
I will admit that Jakob was clearly beat and I don't think he could've won, at all... But it almost looked like he didn't even try to win the last 100m? He never moved wide, at all, and looked calm and content (double thumbs up) getting 2nd. Again, don't think he could've won, but it almost looked like he wanted to use Kerr (or anyone) to time trial this/break the wind?
(Third time disclaimer: I don't think he could've won today)
Coming off and Achilles injury. For sure can impact change of gears in the final straight or desire to try it now. 3:45 as your first race in months, after coming off your wedding? No reason for Jakob or his fans to panic. Regardless, Kerr is a formidable and worthy opponent and it will be epic. NOBODY else has a chance barring something crazy or injury. Lots of good guys going for 3rd.

Sure, but I would never see a 3:45 as a bad sign. At this point it's a coin toss of who is in the lead at 100m to go.
Quick take right after: Jakob looked very comfortable holding onto Kerr the last 200. No strain. He definitely did not reveal if and what his next gear looks like because he never fought for passing position. He looked happy, thumbs up right after and I think rightfully so - season opener, after an injury - I'd be happy too. Kerr won today, but I still have Jakob as winning in Paris.
If that’s the case (I didn’t watch the race), Jakob’s gonna be dangerous in Paris. He had a similar happy reaction in Monaco 2021 when he ran 3:29.25 for third after coming back from illness.

bad sign that he keeps getting ill/injured every single year though
With Kerr now the Oly favorite, Wightman back near top form, Gourley stepping up, plus Mills, Giles, Stonier, British 1500m running is just insanely good after 40 years in the wilderness.
Did you not see how he almost fell with 550 left? Girma cut him off, Tware tripped him and almost fell over him? That’s why him and Girma were a few seconds back…
People on here don’t know how to watch races and see what happened…
They both ran sub 3:54 after getting their momentum cut off after already being lactic…
