She is down to two now: Hofstra and Iona. Idea is to stay close to home. Makes sense.

One might be her first choice but they did not offer a full ride while others did. That's my guess. She is hoping they can restructure to get the number up. Otherwise all information is available unchanging.
This struck me as curious.
I had a senior qualify for Nike about 4 years ago. I had to sign all kinds of paperwork and verify that he committed to a college so that he could get all the Nike merchandise they offered.
As underclassmen they're only allowed a certain amount, much less than what seniors get.
Now, my kid's parents could afford all the Nike gear he wanted but he was excited to get everything they offered.
She hasn't committed and has to stick with the underclassmen rule.
No point really I just thought it was interesting.
Bottom line- She is just another high school kid.

What’s wrong with providence and nova ? Both good schools with good programs. Maybe she’s Catholic.
Both mediocre academically. Xc wise nova hasn't been relevant since the 90s and providence didn't even make it to ncaas, so not exactly my expected picks for the greatest hs xc runner of all time.

I wouldn’t say they are bad academically. They fall into a weird category of liberal arts schools with more non liberal arts majors than LA.
Depending on what she wants to study both schools have strong programs. (I’m biased I went to one of them)
They arnt Ivy League sure, but there are certainly a lot of successful people from my graduating class myself included so it is what it is.
They are good schools but not what you would expect if you could take a full ride to Notre Dame.

In an interview with Runners World yesterday, she said she has visited 5 schools: NC state, Michigan, Providence, Syracuse and Villanova. She said she’s narrowed it down to three of those but declined to say which ones. Oregon’s not on her list, she’s too smart for UO.
Is this true? Anyone else read this? One of the few posts not going for comedy.
Question: are all of these Nike-sponsored programs? What does she wear now? (I'm assuming Nike since I'm under the impression that US HS runners all wear them,)
This is true read it in runner's world.
My guess is NC-State. A lot of top New Yorkers have gone there as of late.
If she wants to go somewhere that has exhausted it's scholarship $, is it possible for her to get a free ride for a redshirt year that doesn't count as an athletic scholarship in the eyes of NCAA?

No
You can rule out NC State. They don't have a full scholarship available.
she is signing with Bowerman...
I have heard this from someone at Villanova [not an athlete].

Not making this up, it will be UVA or Michigan. No decision yet. I will update when I hear.

Academically Oregon is a meh school. Supposedly Tuohy is in top 20? of her class. Tuohy did NOT perform well in the cold, damp, rainy Oregon NXN today. I predict Stanford as it is warmer, drier, top academically , great XC team. I will be shocked if she picks Oregon, Michigan, NC State.
If cold damp rainy weather bothers her then she should race with running tights, hat , gloves, right?

No
Thanks. I assumed not, but wondered how the NCAA would enforce a rule preventing a school from giving a non athletic scholarship to a student not on the team.

No to NC State (adidas) and Providence (New Balance).
The other three are NIKE schools.
UVA??!!?!?!?!
Has anyone seen their women results from the past couple years? Absolutely abysmal and irrelevant.

Villanova women have had 2 team championships and 2 individual ncaa wins since 2009, so wtf are you talking about? (They also have a men's individual champion in that time frame....)
