But the problem is, GPS watches are accessible because the key technologies aren't owned by one company. Nike has patents on certain foams, the shape of the plate, and probably the air bags. So the shoes are only accessible to Nike athletes, or unsponsored athletes that have the money. Additionally it decreases competition, so the prices remain high.

I'm pretty sure that if people can come up with the technology for my watch to interact with a fuc%king satellite in outer space then a shoe company can come up with something similar to what Nike did without violating patents.
Don't be a defeatist. It's unamerican. If someone is beating you, then get better. It's unamerican to want to call foul, complain, make rules and laws, etc.
