Okay, so I know this is in the archives somewhere but I’m having a hard time finding it. I’m trying to run a 250 at CIM...maybe can come close to 2:45 if it’s a fast day with good weather.
Can you please give me your best course strategy?
Thank you!
#1- can't even imagine what it's like to be a woman on here.
#2- there's a sub-2:45 pace group for women. Pacer was amazing in 2017. Super consistent. Zero fast miles. Everything right on pace. CIM is a downhill course but more honest in the front half. The marathon is all about fueling & avoiding any sort of bonk, which can be caused by going out too fast. At CIM, the last 10k is an easy, runnable, downhill. You need legs there whether you're going for sub-2:50 or 2:45. Even pacing or slightly slower in the front half is the recipe for CIM. As you get later in the race, you might be increasing your effort & hitting the same pace. The course will do its job if you're able to maintain.
