The arbitrators, like most Americans, likely had no idea the world championships were even going on.
If someone doesn't know the world championships are going on they won't know (or care) who Salazar is anyway.
Of course they know it's going on and Alberto's whereabouts.
make no mistake, the timing of this announcement was calculated, it could have waited until after the championships or tilde not for one of his athletes would be competing.
exactly zero of his athletes or his team's athletes have ever tested positive, while being the most scrutinized untested team in the world.
it is highly likely that a piece of the timing of this announcement was calculated to punish Alberto for defending himself and for his personality.
He has the horribly cantankerous personality, my reputation that has followed him since his college days.
All too often he is a gruff, rude, boorish a**hole.
however if you have the chance to spend any time with him when he's not in a public environment etc., He's also a very kind, caring, humorous, Christian individual. Ironic perhaps, but people are generally not as black-and-white as they are often perceived in the media or the public eye.
He is a super competitive, excellence distributing human being, and Coach, you could not have a more supportive advocate in your corner ever.
as reports as part of this led to his mistakes, however there is no accusation evidence that he gave actual performance-enhancing drugs to his athletes, something that most likely just flat-out did not happen.
if you take the entire history and career of his statements around his own athletic health and athletic health of others, you can see that his focus has been about the health of an athlete not about using performance-enhancing medications for his athletes.
As it concerns thyroid health, even by Steve Magness' own passionate comments there is a wide spectrum of expert medical opinions on the when one has hypothyroidism.
Alberto clearly believed that his nautical expert in that area, perhaps influenced by his own ruining his immune system and athletic health, cost him to be overly cautious and concerned in this area and willing to believe a doctor whose opinion on something phosphate by other medical "experts" in an area of medicine that does not that present have unified opinion - a Steve Magness so clearly stated back in the day.
well these are the days of celebration for simple-minded folk who are easy to hate others that they do not understand, and gladly will believe the worst and based on rumors, smears, decades of innuendo, and personal analyst or worse....
... Do not be surprised if Alberto Salazar is not ultimately victorious in this fight when he takes this to the CAS.
The real world is not as simple as wingnut message boards, or USADA for that matter.
To wit, there is nothing new in this report, everything in the report has been known for years and years and years so you have to ask yourself if these so-called violations were so horrible, why then did usada not add sugar to protect the health of the athletes and the integrity of the sport???!!!
Indeed, there is a taint of this announcement and penalty that reeks of punishing the coach for fighting these accusations and having a vigorous defense call as well as a bad personality...
