reed, you're pretty ignorant about high level running. You are saying nothing he's done since college indicates sub-64 ability? Are you serious? How about Patrick Smyth? Andy Wacker? Guys that have run 1:02 that Jim has absolutely demolished over short trail mountain races.
You're the same dude that said Walmsley was a mental head case and could never set the CR at Western States and the year he went off-course he would not have set the CR.
Stick to your slowpoke runnign and racing, buddy. It will be nice again when he proves you wrong, AGAIN.
I'm gonna agree with myself that Jim hasn't done anything since college that directly indicates sub 64min half ability. I'm not saying he can't do it, I'm just saying he hasn't proven that he can easily do it.
Also, Jim has hardly raced any shorter mountain races. Without looking anything up, I'd even guess he literally hasn't raced Wacker or Smyth in a short trail race. Besides, short trail races hardly indicate half marathon ability.
And I definitely never said Jim could t get the CR at Western States. You're thinking of somebody else. I'm generally a defender of Jim on these boards. I bought his Stop Jim tshirt and wore it while spectating WS100 a couple years ago.
Additionally, I'll stand by my comment that he probably wouldn't have set the CR in 2015, the year he made a wrong turn. He was losing a ton of ground on CR pace and was obviously not mentally in a good spot. I could pull up splits for you if you want more details.
So everything you've said has been wrong. Thank you, please come again.
He did like a 31-31 minute 10 k last year on the road in the brutal heat.
