Maybe it's time for Simpson to give the 3000m/5000m a go once again.

I hate to be the grinch but Shelby just finished at 1:55 800m pace or with the male equivalent of 51s for 400m, she was tested a measly 3 times last year (probably only urine), no wonder she is dominating. Oh, that's right American runners are clean.
Hmm maybe she asked for some Jager juice.

You saw that last 100 by houlihan?? I think Jenny would have been silver in the 5k also. Maybe steeple?
Yes love it cheers to Shelby tired of hearing Jenny praising Jenny!!
Way to go, Shelby!

Watched the 5000m today with my daughter. We both looked at each other afterwards and said “hmmm”

Seriously dude...only 3 time last year? (I heard from another site it was like 7 or 8 times last year). And no blood tests done either?

Her stellar performances do raise some eyebrows. How is she really doing this?? Great points.
especially when she says the double is just a good workout. You would think they would try to make it look like she isn't on anything, by just doing one race and dominating that. Last person to pull off the double is Jacobs. That should tell people something.
Houlihan was a basic 400/800 girl in Iowa HS. Speed wins the day in a slow race, and Shelby has the sprinting ability that most of those "distance" runners don't have. Given a moderate-slow race, a sprinter will ALWAYS win over so-called distance runners. Somehow, this basic fact is lost on idiots that think that the more miles you run makes you a better sprinter at the end of a race. Pure B.S. Basic fast-twitch muscles will always win out, and Shelby showed that over the others.
the monster kick did not look normal to me.

I don't know that...she's built like a fireplug with sprinter type legs.
Big Jenny fan here.
Shelby is entering her prime and Jenny is leaving it. I don't think there are a lot of 1500m race types that would favor Jenny over Shelby at the moment, even fast ones. Simpson might fare better in terms of US placement by moving up to the 5000m, but she would fare worse on the international level. That's something she will have to weigh. This isn't like when Rowbury would sit and kick on her - Shelby is another level from Shannon.
That said, Jenny has accomplished a LOT as 1500m runner, and Shelby will have to have a lot of success to match her career.

Agree with this post. For the skeptics that think this is a result of PEDs, do your homework before leveling accusations. Shelby was running 55 flat in the 400 and has the all time Iowa State HS record at 800. She showed range to contend for NCAA titles from 800 - 6k cross at AZ state in a program that is not known for producing distance talent.
Since she turned pro she's been healthy building strength in Jerry's program for several years with no interruptions in training. The speed was always there. She came down from extended training at altitude and handled a weak 5k field. With Infeld hurt, Rowberry out and a Flanagan and Huddle moving on there simply wasn't anyone close to Shelby's ability in her prime. Not suspicious if you know the facts.

Both Simpson and Shannon Rowbury were capable of doing the double in the last few years.

The women's 5k field was really weak this year. Schneider has a 15:15 pr and Schweitzer 15:18. Compare that to 2013 when Simpson won. There was Huddle still in her track prime, Rowbury, Conley, D'Agostino, Thweatt, Culley - all low 15 in their careers.
Not to take away from Houlihan's performance, but she was toying with that field.
Overrated arse USAs, but when it comes to WC and Olympics Jenny is always on the podium.
All it takes is one or two races for you guys to jump ship or to claim someone is done.
You guys did it with Murphy and Centrowitz last year, and now you guys are doing with Jenny.
When you gone learn, homes...when you gone learn?

Exactly what is your point?

I made my point. You guys are overreacting with Jenny being done, and Shelby does not own her.
That is my point.
