Stands are empty. Not a good look for a national broadcast. Makes me wonder what incentive broadcasters will have to take on future events. USATF must figure out a way to make T&F compelling or we will simply be left with watching championship events on fl@track.
They're pretty full
"Nobody in this field is in top form."
???
Centro looks smaller and leaner
Pat Casey is my darkhorse pick
Jenkins with a strong push with 2 laps to go.
Centro wins,
YOrks 2nd,
Jenkins 3rd,
Casey 4th. All closed in about 53mid to 54. 1:50 mid to 1:51 last 800m
Drew looked like a tactical disaster in the first 400. Same with McGorty in the last 400. But a tactical masterpiece from Centro.
Very nice race for Yorks. Always thought his NCAA indoor career as a miler was underrated, could see him making the team next year

Agreed. First really solid performance for Yorks in a while.
Casey is coming back from the depths of hell, too.
Jenkins had a strong push. I think this type of thing will suit him well in 5k races. I hope races the 5k tomorrow but I doubt he will.
Gregorek not even in the picture with 300 to go despite being in good position early then having to swing way wide trying to pass up the entire field once again. Unless he was caught off guard by the 3rd lap there isn't much excuse for that.

NBC throwing this TV-quality sprint minidoc at us as a little bonus

Yes, I enjoyed that! NBC has been on point so far. Whiners be damned. There was nothing wrong with the steeple coverage other than the slight delay in telling us the third place finisher.
Personally I'd prefer seeing the race, not a bunch of nonsense instead. None of that was a positive.
First 11 finishers within 1.05 seconds. Imagine being 10th and thinking "if I had only had one more second in me the last 400".
Of course, Centro always has another gear.
Thoughts on Centro’s phone gesture?

2nd fastest over the last lap (to Centro) with a 53.74 despite having to run wide, finished 9th because he was DFL at the bell. Yikes.
Jon Gault's name SPOTTED on the NBC closing byline. wonder why?

Dude was obviously tryna bang and NBC just had to insert themselves in the situation on live TV

Houlihan will break the American record this year. In the 5 and 15.
Let's hope not. Dropping her PBs by 10 seconds and 22 seconds in a year wouldn't be suspicious. Not at all.

Come on, we all know she's faster than those PRs.
Never criticize anyone for taking the money when he can get it but . . . Drew Hunter would have benefited from going to college. He would have been a beast at cross country and it would have been good preparation for a career as a distance runner.
Still very interested in how he'll look next year if he steps up in distance. No doubt he has the aerobic talent but some concern about his form. He is not the picture of smoothness out there.
Also will be interested to see if McGorty can make himself a player for next year's 5000m team. Running the 1500m today was also a bit of a waste for him.
