I'd like to see Yuta Shitara set the Japanese NR. Sub 2:06 would be cool.

I'm glad to hear that the first 5km wasn't silly.

This commentator on NBC Sports Gold might be the worst I've ever heard. He's like a robot... "right turn. left turn. 1km."
Why the hell did they choose this guy? It's so bad.
Anyone else watching on NBC Sports Gold?
I was going to say exactly the opposite! This commentator on NBC Sports Gold is extremely informed about all of the entrants, tells us who everyone is that is visible on the screen, and their back story. There is a continuous audio stream of information. This is the most informative commentary that I have experienced when watching on NBC Sports Gold so far.

Aha. It's good for three minutes, then you're informed that you need to register. Then random old marathon footage comes on.
Then, if you're me, you reload.
And then a message comes on, the gist of which is, "You reloaded, so we're booting you."
Dang.
Same problem here :-(
Just register. All they want is your email and you make a password. It's totally free.

Indeed.
I love how they show distance and time all the time.
10k about 29:38
10k in 29:37?
Yeah, pace slowing a bit...Kipsang lagging behind drinking, is he going to pull out a Berlin 2017 ?
Larner is great with his knowledge of information, but the delivery is a bit robotic.
10k in 29:37
14:46
14:51
Too slow

I just signed up for an account with my burner email that I use for such things.
Usually Kisang front runs. Today he is hanging in back of lead group. Different strategy or not feeling it today?

2:05 flat pace for the men. I never thought WR was possible, but I think there is a chance they break the CR still with a great neg split. But more likely, no.
The huge pack is great for the women, but it sucks for viewers....at this point we can't really see them. But it's early....
Is Jerry Schumacher in Tokyo to oversee Amy's 'thon performance and provide on course coaching?
Also, I just had a bowl of cereal and thought to myself that it's been a long time since I've eaten at a Japanese Steak House like Benihana. Which leads me to two non-related 'thon questions. Are there any Benihanas in the Bahamas? And, can you get good Mexican food in Japan?

Second pace group of japanese caught lead group looking to go ahead
Looks like Shitara and Inyoue (sorry for spelling) are in the lead group. If they'r eon 205 pace this could turn into the race where the Japanese NR falls. Fast but not super crazy fast. Shitara with his 60:17 half should feel pretty good with this.
Kipsang at back of pack. Announcers are saying he is staying out of trouble but i think he is fixin' for a drop out.
Kipsang rocking the Sub2 shoes.
