Simple. This is because dibaba and Vivian are kickers. There is no incentive to drive the pace if you have finishing kick. It's not about her being less mentally strong. Why use extra energy to drive the pace when you can kick to l win?

And as mentioned, dibaba solo a 2:18 w/o pacers. Something that Keitany has not even done before. All Keitany's fast times come from pacers.

I think that Keitany will beat dibaba in London. But what you say about dibaba is certainly not true. And your choice of words is too extreme to describe the female GOAT

The female GOAT? Not at the marathon, and not at 10000m. The marathon belongs to Mary K as the greatest off all time in my book, and Ayana smashed the WR at 10000m and beat Dibaba while doing it ( and I'm not a ayana fan ..). If you're saying she is the greatest all-around female distance runner( which you did not specify), then I'll agree to that. But she is not a WR seeker. That is not her style. She destroyed her opponents, not the clock.

Ayana seeks to destroy the WR every time she runs, so does Mary. Haile was the same way, and so is Bekele. That is why they all have a NUMBER of insane, fast times. I'm just simply saying to you that Dibaba does not go after time or WRs like that. That is not her strategy. Maybe it has changed, I don't know, but her history speaks otherwise.

This is not a battle for me. I like both runners, but with male pacers running in london, I just don't see Dibaba wanting any parts of that, or being able to hang with mary. At a death pace in the rak half marathon, dibaba got dropped hard at the 8th or 9th mile. And that was a race with MALE PACERS.

I' m also willing to say this. Maybe Mary is a better runner with pacers, and Dibaba is better runner without pacers. WE have seen mary have trouble running without pacers, and we have seen Dibaba have trouble running with pacers.

So do you think that is fair to say?

And that is the appeal of watching a runner who gradually ramps it up over the race as opposed to the one who blazes out from the start. Sure Tirunesh is a sit and kick exponent. Until Ayana came along she had no need to try to take it out fast. She has historically been super confident in her kick. This is why she has never gone for the WR in the 10000m she has been happy to sit with the pack and then blast them over the last 600m. perhaps if she had come up against an Alice Aprot type of runner in her prime it would have been her record Ayana broke in Rio and not Junxias.

Interesting fact that if you analyse both the Rio 10000m and the London Worlds 10000m Tirunesh Dibaba attained the highest top speed in both events. - obviously Ayana had the highest average speed as she won both, but Tirunesh hit speeds over her last lap that Ayana didnt at any stage of the race.

Im confident that Dibaba can beat Keitany - and Im also confident that keitany can beat Dibaba !!!

At the Berlin Marathon Shalane used male pacers in her attempt to become the fastest American Female Marathoner. She failed. With no pacers at all in Chicago, Jordan Hasay ran faster than Shalane.

With the crazy pacing in her 'unpaced' WR the record is definitely under threat.
