1) It would ruin one of the greatest meets in the world - the US Trials. The Trials just wouldn't be the same if it didn't matter if Harrison, Rupp, Justin Gatlin, etc did. That drama of them competing all out and needing to be fit makes the Trials.
2) Look at the world #1s that bombed the Trials. Based on how Shamier LIttle has run since the Trials, do we really want her on the team over Sydney McLaughlin? Hell no. Same thing applies to world #1 Johnny Dutch.

Danielle Williams is the WORLD CHAMPION at 100m hurdles and they didn't say anything about it for her. I didn't realize it myself but I'm not broadcasting the meet and saw it go across the bottom of the screen and googled it to make sure.

i agree with you that we should keep top 3 in 99% of cases. The only exception I would consider would be if you set an AR within the qualifying window then you would get an automatic spot. This would obviously apply in very limited circumstances, but it would ensure someone like harrison is able to compete.
I think having Eaton in the booth knocked both of them off their games a bit. The focus went to Theisen over the hurdle specialists because he was there. Eaton was actually quite fluid in his commentary with a minimum of "ums" and "likes" The 110 hurdles was the low light of the commentary so far

It seems to me like there are a lot of awkward silences during the athlete introductions - they don't know who a lot of these guys are outside of the studs. Especially for Trey
