my experience, I'm curious. What did you find was the "right" dosage of DHEA and when did you take it, morning, mid-day, evening, etc. or in multiple doses throughout the day. And, yes, I realize it's banned but I don't compete any more.
I take it at bedtime or before a high intensity workout. The reason I chose those times is that testosterone is produced at a higher rate at night when asleep and in the hours immediately after a high intensity workout. Since DHEA is a substance used by the body to make T, it makes sense to have in the blood stream at those times. DHEA does not enhance the workout that I can tell. There is no short term performance boost.
The women I know are both menopausal and take 25mg of DHEA daily. They both also take a testosterone supplement. They do not take these supplements for performance enhancement. They take them for their anti-aging benefits and benefits in treating the symptoms of menopause.
I've taken 25 to 100mg per day. Years ago, I took 100mg/day, but I found in a few months that was too much. It would make me fly into a rage at... almost anything. I dropped to 25-50mg/day. With age, I've found that 50mg tends to cause prostate issues, so I stay with 25mg/day.
Let me add that I think DHEA works better with high intensity workouts in your training. It can be track intervals, hill reps, or weights. Subjectively, I would guess that about 75% of the testosterone boost comes from high intensity workouts and diet with only 25% from the DHEA. I have no data to back this up... just a subjective feeling.
DHEA has been used in body building circles for at least a couple of decades. That's how I found out about it initially. Body builders are like human lab rats when it comes to performance enhancing drugs. They try everything. If there were any serious side effects, we would probably have heard about it from body builders by now.
It's extremely interesting that drug companies have lobbied the FDA to ban DHEA because it works and its cheap.
