Weldon,
This is an important issue for our sport.
How about starting a thread limited to registered users about helping those with the problem, i know its a departure from the business model, but remarkably necessary.
If that is untennable, run a series of interviews with women/men runners who have had an ED. Educate.
Allowing anonymous posters the opporunity to accuse and hurt is not the answer. Too much toxic vitriol hate and anger out there.
I second the suggestion, am registered, and would definitely post in a thread like the one proposed.
I'm a collegiate (MALE) runner that has been struggling with disordered eating for over a year now. Had decent success in high school, and would blame at least a bit of my inconsistency since entering college on my eating patterns, and the results of them (losing a decent amount of muscle mass, etc). I don't look severely underweight, and have only breifly been in the territory of a fully-blown ED (bulimia).
Having experienced, successful runners or just users that have gone through it speak about overcoming these sort of issues would help a great deal-at least for me. I know a lot of people would feel the same.
Seeking input from high-level athletes about whether they've been through these problems, and compiling the responses would be a bit of a first, one that would probably do a lot of good (as well as incite many to point out the possibility of "triggers," sadly).
I know this is a long post, but lastly, "women's" should be removed from the title of this thread stays on the front page.
