If the Statute of Limitations card is going to be played, then that is admitting that there is, or would have been, a case to answer. It is an acknowledgement of wrongdoing, and no sponsor or event promoter is going to touch them with a 10 foot pole. Legal prosecutions are merely an afterthought. It is public opinion, and the media, that will ultimately do them in. When thyroid medication gets banned for competing athletes, and it will, no action can be taken against athletes who used the medication prior to the ban. But everyone will still know that they cheated.
