2:15 is the "A" qualifyinhg standard for the Men's trial - which provides funding to the athletes.
I expect him to be under 2:15 in LA

I'll be surprised if he's a factor past mile 15

Ryan Hall is America's #1 marathon hope. Hall running in L.A. is tremendous news for the Olympic movement. Presently in the L.A. area resides 1/3 of the US 2012 Olympics team, plus tens of thousands of Olympians from earlier Olympic games representing the U.S. and other nations. It's up to USATF and USOC to get these Olympians to the 2015 US Marys to support the 2024 L.A. Olympic Games.
Love to to L.A. natives Deena, Nick, Desi, and Meb entered.

The problem is that he is still the best US Marathoner.
No, we have a guy who has won NYC recently and is the defending champ at Boston. 4th in London. Dude's name is not Ryan.
Letsrun readers- This time I will finish because God will see me through.
So really - what's the deal here?
is it the LA marathon organizers finally trying to make their race world class? that's what it feels like - tired of being a second tier race - paying up for the best known american marathoner (or second best known) , hosting the US champs and then the OG trials...sounds to me like the LA marathon is getting serious.
And ja, Hall probably likes being the center of a marketing campaign and getting a sense of the race.
Is the OTrials course the same as the regular LA marathon course?
Dumb A**, you praise Hall for having top running times in events then go straight to belittling him for being into God... You do realize the ONLY reason he started running was for God, right? If he wasn't as crazy for God as you make him out to be there wouldn't be Ryan Hall the leading "Caucasian", "US born" athlete. Give Praise were Praise is rightly due. Amen
They won't announce trials the course for a while I'm sure...
Oddly enough they have always offered huge prize money. LA Marathon was the big break in Wesley Korrir's career. I think he won well over 200k that day.
Just Ryan Hall? If the ramp up is for the Olympics at the L.A. Coliseum in 2024, then what about Meb, Desi, Deena and other marathon medalists from So Cal metro area?

Well lets see , its the 6th largest marathon in the US , televised regionally , quality fields , very good racing competition. Asics is more than happy having Ryan run , strategically great move for him career wise , if he has have a great day a win in major market , sponsor is happy , gain some confidence , get ready for the trials... win , win
We don't know what the course will be for the Olympic Trials Marathon in LA 2016 as of yet, but it will most certainly be different from the current mass marathon route.
Word is that you can expect a multiple loop course.
2:11 Swan song.
Nice knowing you
Who are you?
No, not odd at all numbnuts, err...Hardloper. They have the money...it's a drop in the bucket. Learn something?

Agreed. 200K is nothing and I find nothing odd about it. Get with the program.

They don't have the gender challenge in the open division this year, and it hasn't been 100K for a couple of years.

The Los Angeles marathon has a $100k challenge where the elite women start before the men and the men try to catch the woman and the first runner across gets 100k, they try to arrange a time that would theoretically have the men and woman tie, so it is fair.

You don't think it's a little ironic that he won more money for his LA win than his Boston win?
Happy MLK Day!
This is simple. Team World Vision has a very large LA Marathon effort. Ryan Hall works with Team World Vision.
