Rupp is going to kick Farah's tail in the 10000m; Farah just doesn't know it yet. When it happens, Rupp will not be waiting around behind Farah with 400m to go; it will be a long grind to the finish.
For Farah, it will be over. And Farah will go home......

HAHAHA...what are you proposing? That Rupp could only run a 3:47? What is 3:50 indoors worth to you? And that was without training only for the mile specifically. Fanboyism is fantasizing he could run well in an event he's never tried before and that his coach has failed to produce good runners for. REALITY is proposing that he could run 2 seconds faster than what is his indoor time is equivalent to, given a year of specific preparation.
And even if he couldn't braek Wbb's record, he still ahs ba better chance at that than winning a marathon major, which was my point in the first place. What he has a BETTER chance of doing, even if he couldn't do either of them.
Rupp WAS training for the mile specifically when he ran 3:50. His 3:50 was run on a perfect indoor track that may be faster than an outdoor track environment. Those two facts support the possibibilty that he might not even be able to break 3:49 or even 3:50 on an outdoor track. Let alone a FOUR second improvement.
Salazar can't coach any event from a fitness and time standpoint. How many of his runners have truly and consistently run great middle distance times due to his coaching? He is an ok coach not a great one.
There are a lot of guys who have a faster indoor mile PR than outdoor.
Maybe that's because they run it more often indoors? I dunno, it's not like indoor season is all that long.
Anyway, I doubt Ruppster is running 3:46 in the mile if he trained at it for a year.
Or two years. Too much pollen outdoors.
He may be too tall to end up being a great marathoner. Kipsang aside, every other elite marathoner seems to be 5'7" or smaller.
I also wonder when Chris Derrick might move to the marathon. He probably won't wait till after the 2020 games. That would mean two big names moving to the marathon at the same time. Like Rupp, Derrick is also pretty tall at 5'11"
Pollen is a Rupp defeater.

Lol what does height have to do with marathon ability?
LOL, a lot.
First of all, no I don't think age is a problem if he starts into the marathon after Rio.
But secondly, who says Rupp cares about running marathons? His heart doesn't seem to be into it. I'm getting a strong sense of marathon snobbery in this post.
Its like wondering why a successful broadway actor doesn't take an offer to star in some big budget Hollywood movie. Because he hates movies and he is doing well financially without Hollywood, that is why. I'm pretty sure that is how Rupp feels about Marathons.
"But secondly, who says Rupp cares about running marathons? His heart doesn't seem to be into it."
You made a lot of assumptions while, at the same time, accused others of making assumptions in a single sentence.
Who says Rupp DOES NOT care about running marathons? I mean, besides mr. ryun foreman?

What is 3:50.92 indoors worth outdoors? I would say 3:50-3:51... yes, really, and Alberto himself shares that opinion that the indoor track is just as fast as the outdoor one. The banked curves held up by boards which offer some extra energy return... plus if you hug the inside rail for 8 laps rather than 4 you're probably covering a slightly shorter distance.
His indoor/outdoor PRs at 1500/mile and 5000 confirm there isn't much difference between the two
I do not think their training is such that they could improve 4 more seconds off their mile times... would you really think Mo could improve his 1500 PB by ~4 seconds?

LOL at Rupp fanboyism.
Make no mistake, I'm not a fanboy of Rupp. Do I like to watch him race? Sure. But am I a bit suspicious that he's clean? Yep.
I'm also a realist. Even in 2 years time, Farah would not have the same finishing kick, and I believe Rupp would outkick him.

No one knows who Webb is, besides people on this board.
who is webb?
Funny when people say that the 10,000 is weak now and that's why Rupp is at the top.
Care to tell me exactly how many of the past 20 years has the world best been better than 26:44? Not many I tell you.

The answer is 10 out of last 20 years have been faster than 26:44. Seems pretty solid to me.

if Galen could win a GOLD in Track and Field it would by pass anything he could ever do in the Marathon....Gold in the Olympics (T&F) is a big deal....for some reason Gold is treated much different than silver or blonze....if would be part of T and F news for a long long time...but not winning marathon would (as much)
Umm, no.... Rupp will never win Olympic gold.
