Are you suggesting the judge had a 'transient ischemic attack'?
This was my first thought too.
that's completely false. show me one murder trial in american where there is a 2-hour lunch break IN THE MIDDLE of reading the verdict and then an adjournment for the day IN THE MIDDLE of the verdict. you clearly have no business opining on what happens in american courts if you think anything even remotely close to that happens here.
let's face it, RSA is a banana republic.
I don't care about no damn lunch,
i just want the guy to rot in jail,
and not go free,
like George Zee.
this Beotch definitely had a TIA. It lasted 1 hour into her two hour break, after which the neurologist consult robot was all “I think she could benefit from tPA”. She then got the tPA and had a full blown hemorrhage at that point, cinching the “not guilty” verdict. She now has locked in syndrome and can only communicate the remaining verdict by shifting her eyes up and down. OP on release is set to marry her and care for her few remaining years if he can stand not shooting her out of self defense in a roid rage fit.

The shoe did not fit so they had to acquit!
Where is Dexter when we need him?
Thousands of gun owners shoot others irresponsibly in America and get no prison time. The law is loose and allows such things to happen in Wild Wild West cultures. No one should be surprised.. As long as being an irresponsible gun owner is not a crime there will always be an defense argument.

That's only part of the story. Yes, judge Masipa acquits OP, they fall in love and marry, that's obviously going to happen, TIA. It's a happy marriage full of bliss, guns and roids. But she's a bit old and constipated, and is always on the toilet a long time. One day Oscar's bladder is painfully full and she's taking longer than usual due to having not only obstructed bowels, but multiple simultaneous TIAs.
Oscar goes into a rage and empties a Glock into the door, same pattern as when he shot at Steeva. Just to be sure he grabs his .50 caliber flaming Desert Eagle, and from his stumps, blasts the door clean through.
There's blood everywhere, but miraculously, after a 2hr lunch, Masipa revives. She goes on to be the judge in her own attempted murder trial, but after a thoughtful 4 hour lunch, she looks at their photos together at the local shooting range, and, after a few more TIAs to clean up any remaining brain cells, she cannot deny that her love knows no bounds and acquits Oscar, again!
Oscar, spurred on by the power of love trains with a vengeance and qualifies for 2016 Rio. Too make things tough he decides to train for the steeple instead. It's a success! He latches on to Jager's long flowing locks and manages an 8:04 to qualify for the finals!
In the finals it's a tough race, his prosthetics are slipping on the barriers, but on the water jumps he manages to ski ahead of everyone. In the final sprint 3 runners go sub 8, including Jager and Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad, but alas poor Oscar ends up with silver.
The mascot is a large horse, and after the finish line he hands out prize flower bouquets, but also eats some of the bouquets and and pretends to take a piss on Benabbad and Oscar. Benabbad is enraged. OP is also enraged.
So they both start beating the crap out of the mascot. OP looks into it's mouth then jams his prosthetics straight in, a deep penetrating blow.
The mascot collapses, it's costumed head rolls off, and it's revealed to be van Steenkamp's father inside! He pulls a gun stolen from Oscars gym bag, and blasts OP, as well as Benabbad just for being a douche.
TIA, so Judge Masipa presides over the trail, and after a few remaining twitches of TIA acquits van Steenkamp of all charges, saying:
TIA, you should not look a gift horse in the mouth.
Wait for the movie.
Seems like the judge believes OPs version of what happened. Too bad Reeva can't tell hers. Convenient for OP. Looks like OP will walk.
Did you LISTEN to what the judge said? Oscar is NOT going to walk (as it were). She's getting him on what is the equivalent of negligent homicide.
Yes. It's not what I want to see, it just seems that is the direction she is moving in. When her language indicates she believes he acted in self-defense that's a precursor to a verdict that leads to no jail time. I hope you are right.
She may find him guilty as you say, but is there a jail sentence involved?
Her comments are nonsensical as they relate to OP firing 4 shots through a door. If someone fires 4 shots from a hand cannon loaded with hollow point ammunition through a door they can foresee killing the person on the other side. She doesn't think this is the case though.
Quotes from the judge:
"How could the accused reasonably have foreseen that the shot he fired would kill the deceased?" she said.
"Clearly he did not subjectively foresee this as a possibility, that he would kill the person behind the door, let alone the deceased as he thought she was in the bedroom at the time."
She may let him walk. I hope you are right though.
Legal expert and all around bright spark Nancy Grace is outraged by the verdict thus far and thinks Pistorius flirting with judge and his courtroom antics may have gotten him off murder charges. In Grace's opinion Pistorius may walk entirely. Given that the judge in her reading thinks that Pistorious did not forsee that firing 4 shots into a small enclosed room with no exit could result in him killing someone that is a distinct possibility:

Utter nonsense. The number is not "thousands". I guess posters can make up anything they want.
I know it's rarely done on this board: but let's examine some facts. First, he doesn't allow the person in the bathroom to identify his or her self. He doesn't tell his girlfriend to go downstairs to avoid the gunfire that's about to occur. That alone tells you he wasn't a bit concerned for her safety.
He used his handicap as an excuse for his irrational action
and the judge bought it.
I understand the burden of proof is very high to get a murder conviction. So he might still go to jail. But that poor girl's life was ended before she even hit the prime of life. Even if he lacked intent, he deserves to go to jail for a long time for his reckless act.
First degree murder is always premeditated. There's no such thing as unpremeditated murder. That is, the accused rationally planned to kill the person. If Pistorius was out of his mind on 'roids that would not be murder. If a drunk driver ran over a stranger and killed him that would not be murder either. He would be guilty of manslaughter or lesser murder charge or the equivalent in South Africa. If the state were to make a murder charge stick it would have to prove that Pistorius rationally planned to kill his girlfriend. It would not have to be days in advance. If they could prove Pistorius knew his girlfriend was in the bathroom and pulled the trigger that would be proof, but with Pistorius the only witness and denying it, that's impossible.
It most certainly is thousands according to this Guardian article. Almost ten thousand and that's only murders, not accidental shootings.

Which is why we have to get serious about the campaign to convince Oscar to kill himself. From "American Werewolf in London"
Jack: The supernatural... the powers of darkness — it's all true. The undead surround me. Have you ever talked to a corpse? It's boring! I'm lonely! Take your life, David. Kill yourself.... before you kill others.
Seriously, Oscar is bad news, and if he's free, there's every chance he'll cause other fatalities. Have a look at
http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/02/17/bernstein-oscar-pistorius-and-inconvenient-truths/for some fun facts from Mr P's past.
Unbelievable that he could get up to 15 years or as little as nothing- a fine and community service.
FU___!
What's wrong with calling a recess? And eating lunch during that time? And what does that have to do with anything?
And what does CRONJE say? What is the take on this in SA athletics circles?
