'but A: who gets steak the night before a big race?'
Is this the only thing that can give you food poisoning!
Ovett ate a small steak - before- he won 800m Olympic gold

The race was on in the background when I was around at my brother's the other evening, and when Sharp said something in her post race interview about having had a drip in her arm all night, my sister-in-law (who knows nothing about sport)questioned if that was a wise thing for her to be saying. The point being that if someone who knows very little about sport and anti-doping questions this sort of practice then why are the brojos so wrong to bring it up here? Sport has become a laughing stock.
While some may take inspiration form Sharp's story, I find it all a little unbelievable (not that I'm suggesting that she's doping, but for some reason I'm just not inspired by it - probably just because she seems to be full of excuses).
Exactly, think about it logically. I doubt she would've said it on national TV if there was a problem with it, plus it was the games village hospital and I'm sure they know what they're doing. I sitll don't think puking up is good preparation for a race.
She's been through a tough year. People should lay off.
More drama. Conversation between Lynsey Sharp & GB athlete Andy Vernon
@LynseySharp
Just remembered I promised myself a Chanel bag if I won a medal. Do you remember @xXx_Belle ? #smallfortune
@AndyVernonGB
@LynseySharp you won a medal??? You should mention it now and then!
@LynseySharp
@AndyVernonGB It's not my fault cross country doesn't get quite as much publicity
@AndyVernonGB
@LynseySharp self publicity isnt quite the same. And I dont use a drip to get my medals
@LynseySharp
Andy Vermin, I had 5 ml of fluid through a drip, about the same volume as one tear I just cried looking at your performances.

he seems to be jealous of attention as he also said this about genevieve lacaze:
@AndyVernonGB
Its amazing how some1 can finish 5th in the Commonwealth Games but gets more publicity for gatecrashing a stage for a minute @GenGen_LaCaze
He did have a go at the spanish team in the cross country but then they did have a drug cheat winning. Always seemed a knowlegeable guy, certainly no drip.

He's absolutely right. Women athletes are given far too much attention for their performances. Someone like Sharp is not even among the world's best 5000 800m runners.
No, the cold hard truth is that he's a horrible guy and is jealous.
He's an absolute nob, may have had a bit more validity if he'd done anything himself.
Completely lost all respect for him and am hoping he was drunk when he was tweeting that. Was a fan but will not be supporting him going forwards.
I don't know who either of these people are.
If you have a drip in your arm all night, wouldn't it amount to more than 5ml?
These people need to stop referring to the awards for placing at this competition "medals".
Yes, the award might include a medal, but so did my high school conference meet. Medals are won at the Olympics and to a lesser extent, the World Championships.
Those two should just get a room, already.
Why would someone not eat a steak before a big race?
Lopes had steak before the LA Marathon.
Lagat had steak before the 07 WCs final in either the 1500 or 5, or maybe both.

The steak was just a side note (even though I think there are better things to eat the night before a big race). The point is: If you get food poisoning the night before a race you're not starting/finishing.

In fairness, he seems to be suggesting that she should receive MORE publicity for her 5th place performance
I wish Andy Vermin would have called her "Lynsey Shart". That woulda been a good one.
I don't really give a toss, but as someone noted a couple of posts ago, 5ml? I don't think they would bother giving you an IV drip just to put a teaspoonful of fluid in you.

So the award is a medal but it's not a medal because somehow in your odd little mind you can only get medals at the Olympics (and perhaps the World Championships).
You're just in time to tell the organisers of the European Championships that they might as well not bother giving any medals out because they're not actually medals, despite the fact that they look exactly like medals and that they are planning to give them out during a medal ceremony to the medal winners.
