Doesn't Rose Monday coach Laura Roesler now? Seems like a bad move based on the above comments regarding Monday's coaching abilities.

Right, because Roesler should come to the LRC board for career advice.

No, Roesler should find herself an established 800m coach who can train 400/800 elite runners.

That some randos on LRC say that Monday is incapable of this does not make it true. She has at worst had some influence in Roesler's approach thus far.
Maggie has had 6 coaching changes since leaving college. She is a grown ass woman and it capable of making adult decisions. Don't think Monday is being ripped in this article, and YES she is a capable coach on many levels. So shut the he** up idiots.
In this thread, also referring to a DVD by Rose Monday, there is a workout where Monday seems to use different definitions for various paces compared to standard definitions:

Brock is butt hurt. Guaranteed none of you here know the what has happened over the past six years. Hopefully, MV can regain her form
People really think Vessey is getting fat? Really? What a heifer she is now!

As far as her coach goes, he used an interview with "loose cannon" gugala to air his discontent. That's on him.
Jon Gugula has the sense of humor of a 15-year-old kid who recently got to finger some girl for the first time and now thinks he's badass. If track and field were held in the same regard as even bowling in this country, he would never be paid to write a thing, because real writers with actual minds would fill this niche.

Can someone explain the hatred toward this reporter? Was this not a local Santa Cruz article. Why the hate?
Well, six months in with Monday, and Roesler is already out with an achilles injury- the first major injury of her career.
Yes, injury, from what appears to be quite different training for her: 3xmile type stuff when Roesler primarily did sprint-oriented 800m training at Oregon. Coaching 101: don't do anything radically different immediately with an already successful athlete.

I agree. Coaches can have huge egos, and the temptation to remold the athlete with "their" system is hard to resist.
Just FYI, I would probably never, ever drop the "and I was a pre-med in college" line again if you're trying to be taken seriously.
Roesler ran XC at Oregon, right? What was her XC training like? I know during the spring she did do the sprint training for the 800.

Um....ever heard of PERIODIZATION?
You can do miles in base and sprint training when the time is right.

Rose need to bow out now. She is not a good coach for 800 runners who runs off speed.

Roesler actually sprinted from day 1, week 1 last year and had her best season ever. It's interesting that she improved dramatically in the 1500 on what was a very low volume, but high intensity program.
Knowing what she did last year, 3x1mile repeats would be a substantial change in training.
Monday has a plan that she has learned at various clinics and seminars and won't vary from it one bit. I agree, Laura needs to bail now before more damage is done.
