False. Try actually researching what kinds of training programs baseball players do. The sprint and strength training would go very well with whatever base endurance he got from the previous xc season.
In fact, that is almost like a purposeful track program. Develop an endurance base, then do sprints. That's how runners train.
Yeah I find it stupidly ridiculous how some people think that baseball is a sport where you don't have to be in shape and baseball training isn't physical. This kid is in good shape, obviously he gets a good amount of training in baseball practice. So he builds up a base in the fall, and then builds up speed and strength in the spring. Sounds great for 800m. Obviously he should improve a lot as a year round runner in college, but it sounds like he trains for sports year round which is the opposite of no training.
