Her post race interview more than made up for the race.

You are naming Cam Levins as an example of Salazar's SUCCESS?
REALLY??
Oh, you're serious. The most stagnating of all the talented careers Salazar has stagnated. OK, maybe aside from Ritz. OK, maybe aside from Hasay. OK, maybe aside from Webb.
By mentioning Levins, you are supporting the argument that NOP are great recruiter$ with terrible coaching.
There are ZERO athletes showing impressive LONG TERM DEVELOPMENT under Salazar. (Other than Rupp.)
Kara Goucher thinks otherwise:
Kara stated that she has had her best years under Salazar’s coaching (7-years) and furthered acknowledged that under Salazar’s reign she went from a “often injured nobody to a World Championship bronze medalist and Major Marathon podium finisher”. About Salazar’s impact she said, “He has forever changed my life and I feel eternal gratitude toward him.”
http://runnersfeed.com/kara-goucher-leaves-salazar-for-oregon-track-club-and-schumacher/in numbers, she went from a 15:42 5000 meter runner in 2003 to a 2:25 marathoner. With a medal in there too.
but what you say has a kernel of truth - for one reason or another few athletes have stayed with him for the 5-7 years that we would need to call long term development.

rupp, mo...he even got erdmann (who???) on a national team (w/o a standard tho), hasay has set prs, rowbury just set an AR, kgoucher had some great improvement esp in the marathon, cain had an amaznig 2013
Centro won a medal - what more do you want?
Agip, you have really bad reading comprehension. Read my post again.
agip got it right. Too bad you can't edit what your wrote to make it appear you didn't write it.

Although, I didn't say anything about Kara. I have never really followed her career so I don't know anything about her time with NOP.
A day late to this discussion but osksk is full of it.
I says Saucony.
ASICS and the Kastors in Mammoth. Altitude, baby.
"Who has enjoyed successful LONG TERM development under Salazar?
NOT A SINGLE ATHLETE OTHER THAN RUPP."
.....so Mo Farah didn't get anywhere under Salazar? I didn't know that becoming double world and olympic champion wasn't considered a successful long term development. You're a f&cking idiot, don't call Salazar an unsuccessful coach when he has produced MULTIPLE world/olympic medalists
The NE and DC area of the United States has produced the bulk of the best talent for US distances. Example: Flanagan, Centrowitz Jr, Centro Sr, Salazar, just to name a few. So I would expect Dags to train in the east where the best running community in America has been for hundreds of years already.

Monti's RRW announced that her agent will be Chris Layne
That's a shame.
Maybe she will end up with NOP. Layne was in business with the doper Block. Does that not concern anyone? If i were her parents, and she's choosing between a slew of good agents, that would be a no-no for me.
Like when hiring employees. ALl of them look good but one used to hang out with a convicted felon.

The only one he produced was Rupp. Farah was already a 12:50 guy before he joined Salazar. Centrowitz was already a low 3:3x guy. You guys are not living in the real world. Salazar isn't unsuccessful, but he isn't really that spectacular of a coach. He's a recruiter.

No, agip does not have it right. He's calling Erdmann a "who???" when she was one of the best NCAA xc runners. And using her as an example as Salazar's good coaching is dumb. Erdmann hasn't had a good performance in MONTHS. it might even be a year at this point. The same for Puskedra. Puskedra might even be slower than he was before.
If you really think Erdmann and Puskedra are strengthening your viewpoint, you are crazy. And Rowbury setting an AR is silly. No one runs the 2-mile. It's an obscure record. Never mind the fact that it isn't as good (slightly) as her other times in less obscure events.
In summary, Erdmann, Puskedra, and Rowbury strengthen my argument not yours.
When's the last time Centro set a PR in the 1500? Did you even watch last year? He got blown out every meet. Even this year, he still can't break 3:50. How is that improving? That is the exact opposite of improving.
Osksk. You're wrong about Hasay. You need to do your homework, I won't do it for you. She has ten personal bests this year in multi-events.
Nice cross. I'm becoming more and more convinced that you can't be a world class runner without the fanaticism that comes with religion.

I wouldn't say that there's a 0 chance, because I know after Boston Terrier Cain mentioned something about how she wanted Abbey Dag's to join the group in a post race interview and Salazar was talking to her after the race
Beside that, Coogan has really developed her aerobic capacity which will peak in the next couple of years, but I actually think switching it up a little and transitioning to Salazar wouldn't be a half bad move...
1) he could help her w/ her kick
2) give her unlimited use the lastest Nike technology
3) get her into DL Races (like he has somehow been doing w/ Hasay)
4) Moser, Rowbury, Hasay, Cain, and Erdmann would be great training partners for her
5) and she would get more altitude training in compared to Coogan who doesn't do alititiude training (or at least w/ Ben True)
I think he could get her down to 14:55-15:00 in about 2 years or so
You think she can drop 10-15 seconds in two years on the pro circuit? Is there any precedent for improvement so vast?

wut
mo's PR at the end of 2010, just before joining the NOP, was 12:57. He ran that in zurich, finishing behind Solinsky.
Centro's PR was 3:34.xx
Not low 3:3x
Now that she's done with NCAA she can sign - she said after the 5000 that she will decide soon. You have to think NB is the favorite, but there is no NB training group...and clearly AD likes having a team. I'd say she'd only go with NB if the new coogan group can get a few comparable women, which is doubtfulLetsRun update: Abbey has signed with New Balance.
New Balance for the win
http://www.letsrun.com/news/2014/06/abbey-dagostino-stays-mark-coogan-signs-new-balance/
Good point above about Goucher (Kara), although most of her improvement, as usual for Salazar, came early after joining him with very little long-range development.
That makes TWO athletes showing good long-term development under the world's most overrated coach.
Now, the underdeveloped/wrecked/quit list:
Ritz
Webb
Levins
Flanagan
Cain
AND SO MANY MORE
I gotta say Abbey looks really nice in that New Balance uniform!
