Some athletes race well, or are tactically astute.
Other athletes are much faster, but can't apply it to a race environment.
Farah's goal has been to win races, and as a result he's done exactly that by practising the gradual move up through the pack, sit back and kick with 800/400 to go.
He's a great athlete. If he trained specifically for the 5000m, and to run fast and maybe neglect the kick tactic, then I wouldn't put it past him for a decent attempt at the WR (and certainly a lowering of his PR).
However, with the Commonwealth Games coming up, he'll be wanting to get into good race shape for the 3000/5000/10000 or whatever he races. Even after that, his move to the marathon can't be far away as he starts to reach 30.
To summarise, a 5000m WR for Farah isn't on the cards, and is probably one of the last things on his mind. For me though, a truly great, legendary athlete has to have held the WR at some stage in his or her career.
greatly put. indeed Mo earns his grane but wr's are not in his reach. he is a great racer with nice PB's but stop comparing him with Kenny. just wait and see tommorow what No Farah will do. I Kenny wil loose from him I will not matrubate for 5 days.
