Agreed: But the HUMAN NATURE side of this story always intrigues.
For instance:
1. People actually post up their bib # BEFORE the race? Why...
2. And they're former XC runners can't they just qualify on their own? (They Fail)
3. I've never been beaten by Bib fraudsters in a race but it would be awesome if they were dumb enough to go claim a Top Prize and they get TOTALLY called out Mass execution style on stage.
4. And lastly, holy crap we're like the Scooby Doo Detective Agency of nerds as identification of 'hobbyjoggers' occurred in LESS than 3 thread pages. (Keep in mind it was this site too that broke the Bombers photo last year) Damn we're GOOD!
5. A very wealthy couple (Founder of Foursquare), for whom the "minimum fundraising requirement" for any number of official Boson Marathon charities would be considered pocket change, instead decide to risk their reputations by stealing a bib. (Even if the charity bibs were gone, you know they would be able to cough up enough money so that organizers would "find" an extra bib.)
6. Wife of couple mentioned above then FLAUNTS the fraud on her Twitter account, apparently oblivious to how easy it is to look up this stuff on the internet, even though her husband made a fortune off of leveraging the vast reach of the internet.
7. After the s--t hits the fan in the media, wife then brags about where she'll be doing her next marathon...just in case she isn't in your face enough.
