According to the website there are about 1000 people with my last name in the U.S. I have run my last name through various web sites that search results and have not found anyone faster than my 2:27 marathon.

for better or worse, almost every cushing-murray is a blood relation to me, outside of a few in-laws, some of whom even in divorce have kept the name.
safe to say, until my sons improve (one at this point has a realistic shot at my 5k pr of 13:52, less likely to get my mile/1500 prs of 3:55/3:37), i'll remain the fastest with my last name...
Apparently there is only one person in the US called Bernard Lagat. Its FANTASTIC!
Based on my full name I am unique. There are 7,918 people with my same first name and 248 with my last name.
From what I can find with the ol'Googler, I am the fastest of my line.
i thought id be safe with an irish name, but turns out there's a sub-4 miler out there with my surname
you cna run a 4:20 and 16:07 but can't run under 1:20 in the half?
Yes
A Heisman Trophy winner has my last name. I could prob beat him at a 5K but you said fastest and didn't specify the distance. I'm sure he smokes me over 100m.

Man, I love not having to work!
Very clever. You made me laugh.
I'm amazed weldon is the fastest johnson 10k guy ever. I'm certainly not!!!
I know I am not. In fact, I am not the fastest with my full name, either. I would tell you who the famous runner is that I share a first and last name with, but I like posting anonymously.

As I have an Irishlast name I would say no.
I have an uncommon irish last name and I say yes! Win!
2:35.42 ftw
There's 8,066 people with my last name.
5K PR is 14:31, mile PR is 4:10 so I'm confident less than 1 in 8,066 people have run that (that would be 40,000 people in the US). As far as all-time it's harder to tell but probably still got it.

Not currently. But between now and Thanksgiving I'm gonna change my last name to GobbleGobble-M&%!er-F$@~er. Then, whether I come in first or last, I will make history in my local turkey trot. I'll be the fastest GobbleGobble-M&%!er-F$@~er of all time!
Of course, I'm assuming nobody else steals my idea.
Shoot! Maybe I shouldn't have posted this.
