showboater? not really. celebrating before a finish is fine. are you ok with the centro throat slash? who cares if people clap, smile, or stik their tongue out when they're about to win. does it personally hurt your feelings? give me a break

He just ran a 4:09
They announced it as a national 9th grade record
Krahn also just came back to win the mile in 4:09.38, too.
Link to the results?
Incredibly impressive race to watch also. Kid does not look old/advanced/whathaveyou at all...that 8:58/4:09 double was sick and he'll be very good in a couple years. Obviously someone to watch...

You're kidding me right? He's the biggest one in the field...

Ok fine so he's 5'high, but he definitely has a lot of room to mature physically. I stood shoulder to shoulder with the kid today...not that big
How does that help describe the kid in any way? What if you're 6'2"?
Regardless, if I were a high school senior I would not expect a freshman to be taller than me.
Pretty solid 3000 at OFSAA (ontario provincials) this year as well:
1 Brandon Allen General Amherst 8:14.33 10
2 Ben Flanagan St Mary's - Kitc 8:17.31 8
3 Ryan Sleiman Kingsville DHS 8:17.85 6
4 Troy Smith Grimsby SS 8:18.92 5
5 Justyn Knight St Michael's Col 8:19.48 4
6 Jeremy Coughler Port Hope HS 8:23.68 3
7 James Milton St. David CSS 8:27.16 2
8 Graham Hansel West Ferris SS 8:33.35 1
9 Ben Preisner Bishop PF Reding 8:34.00
10 Alex Wilkie Notre Dame -CaPl 8:39.27
I watched Krahn in the 1600. He didn't look that mature, and his form wasn't that of a seasoned veteran. He's just finding his stride and will improve a lot if he stays healthy. Definite sub 4:00 potential before he's through with high school.

^The racist comments on her never cease to surprise me...
In terms of the freshman kid, he looks like he could have a bright future! This picture was already posted:
http://stillwatergazette.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/4-29-spo-btrack-Krahn.jpgbut look at the kid! Looks young, sounds like a tough racer, has an experienced coach, guys to train with! Best of luck to him.
Also, mad respect for rocking the transition lenses too.
Looks like a retard with those things.

Just meant I had plenty of time to get a good look at him....
Ill second that props on the transition lenses. And he's about 5 10" or 11" and his form isn't too great yet. he doesn't do much mileage, as the article suggests. but when he works out, he works out HARD. It also helps that he has two sub 9:10 guys to train with. Big things to come from this kid.

No suprise that the freshman is from Stillwater High School:

What a gross picture of the ahole who won. That kid seems like a real jerk-off. Put your tongue back in your mouth, and have some class, you fool. 16 or 17 or 21, doesn't matter. He'll always be an ahole.
I think it is worth noting that this kid runs for Stillwater. Their coach, Scott Christiansen, has a long history of producing great runners. I can think of at least 4 Stillwater grads ( is that a record?) that have gone on to break 4 minutes as well as great 5k's
The point is this kid is a great talent, in the hands of a great coach, and in a time tested program/culture. Very exciting.
I wish him all the best and Webb's HSR.

Could not agree more. He enjoys grandstanding at the expense of his opponents. What a terrible trait to have. He looks like s shorter version of Greg Oden. Dude has to be 22. What a sham to allow old dudes running against high school-aged runners. I bet he was elbowing them earlier in the race. Only way he can win.
