I know ...that guy sucks. I mean wining NYCM 3X and Boston once is really nothing.
Call me when Cam even wins A race.

Do you know that the typical LRer is all about training to train? You should run 150, maybe 200 but dont worry about the results from racing.
I think adding Levins is a great move. This gives Rupp, Farah and Levins a chance to work together and race together in the WC 10000. It has worked well for Rupp and Farah and has worked well for ETH. In order to train together Levins will have to adjust to Rupp and Farah's methods.
Levins held on until one lap to go in the OG 10000. He has great speed. and has as good of a chance as any American of getting to Rupp's level (healthy Solinsky;Ritz might get under 27:15 if all goes well; Derrick maybe much faster in a year or two)). It will be great for all of them to have another 'teammate' in the lead pack of major races.
It would be interesting to see a Kenyan or Ethiopian join Alberto's group.
But part of the point is to beat those guys, I guess.
This is a turning point for Cam. I hope that it will turn in the right direction and that Cam breaks all the Canadian records from 2,000m to 10,000m this summer.
I do hope that he does not develop a thyroid gland issue in the process however...
As for Cam and Sal, it's a trial marriage for both. Odds it will be a LTR? Slim.
I read that as; Levins is Totally Rad.
I think everyone is overreacting here. I bet he'll run 110-130 mpw instead of 160. Still high, just more quality.
Does anyone actually like Cam Levins?
This whole thread seems like a severe overreaction.
Cam was hesitant after NCAA's to join any group including Salazar's (who had spoke to him shortly after his 5k/10k wins). It took him nearly a year to come to a decision to train with Salazar's group.
Cam is one of the most intelligent runners in regards to his running. There has been several times where even the slightest sign of injury he would skip the workout for the day regardless of it being a speed day or not. On at least one occasion he would stop a workout half way through because he knew his body was exhausted.
If he's running for Salazar he knows what he is doing. He won't become a "mule" for the group because he knows he's better than that.
Cam knows about Salazar and in the end Cam being there is HIS choice and it's the right one because he won't do anything that would cause him to run slower.
You're all idiots

I say: How is winning the 5,000 meter olympic trials - outkicking for all intents and purposes, THE kicker of kickers, Bernard Lagat - not "winning a real race?"
You are a loser.
Aww, you're calling me names! Am I a poopy-pants, too? You're going to hurt my feewings.
First of all, you don't "say," you "ask" when your sentence ends with a question make, winner.
Second of all, out-kicking an unpeaked Lagat in a race with ZERO other legitimate competition is not a real race on the world elite level. Sorry, but it's true. After Rupp and Lagat the US Oly Trials results in the men's 5000 are not exactly striking fear in the competition. (And btw, in the REAL 5000 that year, who came out on top? Yeah, that's right.)
Please tell me, what is Rupp's most significant WIN? You have no excuses. There is a short list to choose from.
Being coddled in training doesn't lead to racing gonads. Rupp would have benefited from being "workout fodder" a few times in his career. Probably would have meant less DNFs.

Salaazar's recruit has 2 golds and his one of his athletes has an Olympic silver.
Fixed that for you ^^^^. As a coach AS has developed ZERO athletes other than Rupp. Many have backtracked during their time with him.
And it's "Saladbar," you idiot, not "Salaadbar."

Don't be surprised when Cam comes bursting out of the gate this summer/fall, starts running even faster, and people will say that Salazar's emphasis on quality workouts and ancillary protocols are to credit for that improvement.
No, it's because he ran HUGE MILEAGE and is about to cash in on it. Watch.
THIS. Repeat of what happened with Ritz. I'm still suspicious of PEDs, but when you introduce the type of quality AlSal does on top of years of massive aerobic work, those kind of breakthroughs are somewhat believable.
Anyone have any updates on Cam's situation?
I hate to invite baseless speculation, but anyone want to weigh in on the course of his career after going to Salazar?
Personally, I fear that he is mostly done improving, and I think it has much more to do with the fact that he moved away from the training that worked for him rather than the speculation that his body is "ruined from so much mileage". Can someone console me and demonstrate that he is still just in a transition period?

He did run a 5000 PR under Salazar even if it wasn't his best season (he seemed to be sick at a lot of inopportune times as well)
Maybe it wasn't the 5K? I know her did in the 1500 but idk
I wouldn't make speculations until at least the end of next season. although it is more of a co-incidence, Rupp's season also started to go downhill as soon as Levins joined the group. May have something to do about a mistake within the training group and Salazar can easily see what mistakes he made training his athletes.
i won't make any judgments on how salazar's training works out for cam for at least another year. he made some big changes.
personally, levins is one of my favorite runners. the dudes willing to train so much by himself, he's got to be one tough mofo.
i think he could be sub 13, or at least 13:05ish, and 27:10 or better next season.
alberto may have him run a couple 1500s too, though i doubt that finishing speed will be NOP's priority next year with no champs.

Not no champs. No Outdoor Champs. I'd be pretty surprised if at least Rupp wasn't out there in US Indoors.
