Agreed. This is great for Levins, but take some USA guys who are running 5k in 13:25 -30 and turn them into a 13:00 min studs--that would be great coaching.

Alberto has to be one of the best coaches around. It would be awesome to go 1-2-3 in 2016. Rupp, Cam, Mo

How are all the Levins fanboys going to react now that their "blue collar" hero is training under the hated Salazar?
As a 30 year Salazar fan I can't wait to watch these guys work this out in their head!!
This should be interesting, I am assuming AlSal will not throw Cam into the full Rupp/Mo training routine...that might be a bit too much. I am a little perplexed as to why AlSal is not providing this same opportunity to U.S. athletes who are at about the same level as Cam.

Because they train under Shumacher?

Why do people like Cam Levins?
1) We are impressed by his super high mileage and work ethic.
2) He's Canadian.
3) He's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet; down to earth, kind, hard working.
He took Puskedra too, right. I wonder if he considered others like CD or GF. Or if they considered him.
I wonder how long it will be until Cam Levins is diagnosed as having an underactive thyroid and needs to go on the thyroid medication

4. He has a sweet 'fro.

Derrick, GF, etc. turned him down.
I don't know wrote:
Cam isn't going to be a full time athlete? The article states he is going to be going to Pharmacy School in Forest Grove 40 minutes away from Nike. I'm familiar with the program and it is very time intensive and a lot of it is spent with group learning. How can he handle that when he has to make certain practices and run upwards of 150 mile weeks. He better not overdue it or he is going to toast himself.
Overdue? Like a movie rental? Do you mean overdo? Anyway, a school 40 minutes away means you could live in the middle and drive 20 minutes either way from school to practice. What's the big deal?

Ritz was 13:16 (you can credit Hudson but the reality is it only happened under Salazar), Rupp has been there through all stages.
Ken Goe (Oregonian) did the legwork on this, spoke directly to A.S.
"The key to the deal was Levins' willingness to exchange a high-mileage training philosophy for Salazar's more targeted approach that emphasizes overall body conditioning and strength training.
"I don't believe the high mileage he has been doing is sustainable long term," Salazar said. "I think the quality stuff we do is much better."
After Levins and Salazar agreed on that, the rest was easy."

I seriously doubt that Salazar wanted anything to do with Derrick or Fernandez.
Are there any updates on Puskedra?

Alberto has to be one of the recruiters around. It would be awesome to go 1-2-3 in 2016. Cam, Mo, Rupp
(Fixed that for you.)
It seems to me Cam has been overdoing the mileage of late. Yes it worked for him in the past but for everyone there reaches a point where more miles just for the sake of doing more miles isn't beneficial.
I think Cam reached that point this winter.
He can still run a ton and be good.
Alberto is a good recruiter but lets not forget Nike's role in all of this. Money talks. Nike top distance guys can go train Alberto or Jerry's group or keep doing something on their own. The next tier generally goes OTC.
I was trying to think of the best Nike Western long distance (above the 1500) runner not in Alberto or Jerry's group or OTC?
Anyone? Alberto in essence is recruiting against Jerry or staying with your current coach which I don't see anyone at Nike doing now.
Who is the top long distance Nike runner on their own now?
I pulled most of the "Nike" names from the past two years of USATF championships for 1500m, steeple, 5k, and 10k, and the USA XC championships. A bunch of these are 1500m runners, and some of them may have been dropped by Nike in the great culling of 2012. Ben Bruce and Jason Hartmann were both dropped, so I removed them.
