In that race you have to look at the top five who did not split until the last 200m. If Lelisa had won by a minute or at least 30 secs, your argument would make sense. And running sub 60min half does not mean that you are a legit marathoner as I explained earlier. Half marathon and full marathon are two completely different things.
a good coach should not have a problem turning a good 10k/half marathoner into a good marathoner, z. tadesse is the exception of not being able to translate a great half marathon to a great marathon, an example of good coaches turning 10k/half marathoners to marathoners is the japanese who convert their half to full times to the point the full marathon time is always better, lelisa has a coach who can apparently do it. alberto salazar is a 5/10k coach who said himself rupp would not run a marathon until after 2016 because he has had to tweak ritz's training to get ritz from so so marathons to a good one 2:07.47, i kind of get the feeling salazar is having ritz run marathons (and farah he said would run london 2014 because there are no globals) there is no globals for rupp either. my feeling is salazar himself does not consider himself a great marathon coach YET, so he will use ritz and farah to figure out what will be a great marathon program, so when rupp starts marathons he wont be running 2:08-2:10, like the runners in dubai salazar will have rupp ready for a sub 2:05 on a chicago or berlin or dubai course or a sub 2:07 on a new york type course.
