Sorry, its Natalia Kareiva who almost fell and lunged forward into Aregawi, who moved up into Uceny.
Watch BBC replay at 2:10:40 where the announcer says "a push there, Karieva going down, and now oh dear me, is that Uceny again!?"

Yeah, she got tripped. Ethiopian ran too close behind her

That video is not conclusive at all.
Sorry man, but the video is totally conclusive. Just watch Uceny's left heel. Contact is obvious with the runner behind her.

Yes, thank you. She didn't just independently take a dive on her own. However, the video IS inconclusive as to who caused the contact, whether Uceny was illegally cutting in or if the Ethiopian was illegally moving out, or if this was the effect of contact elsewhere in the pack.
You cannot tell who's fault it was (really it was just one of those things that happens in a slow/bunched race). You can clearly see Morgan's left foot hit the right leg of the Ethiopian behind and to the left of her and then Morgan's left foot comes forward and clips her own calf. I don't think anyone is right except for those who say Morgan had herself in a dangerous position and she ended up paying for it unfortunately. I feel for her but ultimately, she should have been further up or further out if she wanted to avoid contact in that bunched of a race.
Uceny went down because of horrible placement and not knowing WTF she was doing... again. Just look how Rowbury had great placement from start to finish, just couldn't keep up with the dopers.
Look like a normal jostle in the field and unavoidable contact. This is why sitting and kicking and "tactics" in these races is such bullshit. You never see a fall in a rabbited race you didn't see a fall in the 800m where Rudisha just got on his horse and took off.
Too often in Olympic distance races are the fastest people losing or falling down.
Its also annoying that people claim its even physically possible to get back up and even place better than DFL in a race of this caliber and distance.
Why the hell would she do anything other than cry? She just lost her best chance at glory and there was no possible way getting up and finishing the race would have made a difference.
During the race a runner on the inside stumbled, I said- someone's gonna fall (thinking it wasn't going to be Uceny but a girl inside of her) then Uceny went down.
Someone on the inside clipped the heals of someone in front of her and Uceny must have gotten caught up in it. Too bad.

There needs to be an overhead view to see who was moving to the inside or outside.
Uceny actually hits her knee on the foot the Russian runner in front of her (on the Russian's back-kick) ...sadly Uceny's mistake/bad luck...

Hard for me to see, but seems Aregawi is encroached upon, moves inches to her right which brings her knee into Uceny's trail foot. Just as they came down the way leading to the turn I worried about a fall. Not really a fault to be attributed, but lots of bad luck is risked when things are tight, full field launching into the final lap. I did wonder why 3:56 Aregawi risked a medal waiting for the end, and her risk did not pay off. Typical 1500? Yes, really. Where was Rudisha energy when it was needed?
She had plenty of time to get up and get back in the race. She fell down and quit.

This is the correct analysis. If the Ethiopian was moving to the outside then she is at fault. If Uceny was moving to the inside then she is at fault. All we really know is that someone was moving or else the fall would not have occurred.
i can't tell anyone touch her, looks like she tripped on her own.
glad we have experts on here to figure it out for the rest of us.
I posted in another thread and repeat here.
IMO, looking at the video, it's was Uceny's fault. (Time referring to the video)
At about 0:09 second mark, Uceny's left foot landed near the center of 2nd lane, just to the left of center, while Aregawi's left foot landed just to the right of the 2nd lane's left white line. Uceny's next right step landed just about where her left foot was within the lane, perhaps even more to the left. in essence, her right leg stepped in front of her left and when her left foot came into contact with Aregawi she tried to adjust quickly but the foot had no place to land other than banging into her right leg. During that time Aregawi's left foot continued to land in the same position within the lane.
My conclusion is at the beginning of 0:09 Uceny was at the center of 2nd lane, Aregawi was at the left edge of 2nd lane, the next step Uceny moved left initiating the contact, and with her left leg landing to the right of her right leg she became a pretzel, tripped herself and fell.

At first it looked like she tripped over her own feet. But after a closer look I believe Uceny's left foot hit the Ethiopian's right thigh, then Uceny's left foot clipped her own right calf and she went down. It sucks, but I don't think you can blame any other runners.
Good eye. It is hard to spot when watching frame by frame, but you can definitely see the contact during play of the video. It's about a half second before everyone is looking. Uceny actually looks pretty good in the frame I've currently got frozen, but her left foot is definitely resting on the right thigh of the ethiopian.

I think you are focusing too hard on the runner behind her. She 100% for sure made contact with the runner in front of her and that is what sent her to the ground. I don't think it is clear at all that she made contact with the Ethiopian. It is a bit of an optical illusion imo.

I saw this too. It looks like a combination of things. First, Aregawi and Uceny's thigh and foot collide. Then, the foot of the Russian in front of her hits her (Ucenys') knee helping to push her left leg into her right making her catch her calf and fall.
Up to about 80 meters (I'm going by memory here) before she fell, Uceny was in ideal position. But as the pace picked up she dropped back two or three places. I thought it was strange at the time--that is, I expected her to try to maintain her position in something like fourth place. Had she stayed closer to the front, she would have avoided the commotion once the real racing began. This is not to blame her, but falling back placed her in a much more harrowing position.
