He is a patsy.
The actual push came from the grassy knoll.
'roid rage?

What does he have to do to satisfy you guys? He's a champion.
His coach gave an interview in which he stated that he gave him explicit instructions to leave the track in a specific way. That stupid mascot got in the way. You can't blame Mahiedine, he was doing exactly what his coach asked him to do.
You're not French.
lol and how would you know if someone's french or not? i'm french, doesn't mean i speak with a pepe le pew accent and don't know how to find a running msg board..as we say in the motherland, vas te faire foutre espèce de sale connard, et garde tes opinions à toi m. je-sais-tout. haha c'est marrant comme t'es con. just because you only speak one language (and probably poorly at that) doesn't mean the rest of us are so inept.
I completely agree with the OP.
Disgraceful, completely out of the blue, pushes the mascot who he may not have known was a girl but was definitely a lot smaller than he is. Unacceptable regardless of however you try to justify it.
Not exactly good for the sport...
I don't think he deserves to wear his nation's colours and shouldn't go to the Olympics. Way to come back after a suspension for fighting!
This guy has problems with post-race anger. Apparently the fight with Baala started when Baala approached him to congratulate him on his race. Mekhissi somehow took offense and started insulting him. Then Baala gave him a head-butt:
Baala, Mekhissi, Zinedine Zidane: it seems that a lot of these Algerian-French guys have trouble with their hair-trigger tempers. I know it sounds like stereotyping, it's the sort of thing you'd expect in a macho culture.
Those two videos prove it, the guy is a jerk, he has no cause for pushing around mascots other than trying to be a jerk. I hope this stuff gets circulated more on the internet, here's a real unsportsmanlike sportsman
This is the same guy that was involved in a fight in 2011:
Charmant.
He couldn't even knock over a 14 year old girl, what a wuss. She shoulda kicked him in the nuts, that woulda been great. This guy has no hope for an olympic medal, loser.
This should be at least a season-long ban for him. It's his second post-race fight in 2 years.
Commentary on the incident.
Not a whole lot of the general population gets into track; this is a well-known fact on this board. Even with the (by most of our accounts) decent coverage that NBC provided, it's a shame the most-talked about story with the masses is this one incident. Not Eaton's WR, the US National Team, hell, even Felix making the 100m.
It's focused on how a track athlete from France slapped an award from the hands of a 14-year-old girl and shoved her. Amongst us, some will say "oh, but he's a European champ steepler, he was 'exhausted to the brink of unconsciousness' or 'Rupp would have done the same thing.'"
Nobody cares about his steeple time or probably know who Rupp is. But they do know some "as*hole who runs track shoved a 14-year-old girl" and that's a knock on the community.
So you think assaulting 14 year old girls is hilarious? Now we know how you spend your free time.

I've got a few beers in me. I'd love nothing more than the chance to beat the ever-loving piss out of this 'man'.
I am french.. but also think this is not acceptable.
You can directly go complain on the wall of the french Track and field federation, there is a topic about his race a few lines below.
yeah it sucks if this leaks to the general public and they start to associate track athletes with being jerks who shove 14-year old mascots and shove other mascots too.
It wasn't just the 14-year old girl mascot...
The guy who said complain to the French athletic federation is spot on. This guy should be held accountable by his own people and not allowed to do this shit, it looks disgraceful for track and field and to the audience.

This is the same guy who got in a fist fight with Mehdi Baala after a race last year. It's on youtube too
What other sort of fight is there. You love these stupid expressions on here 'fist fight' Ha!
Its a suprise he didn't know that was a 14 year old girl, its not like she was disguised or anything. Although I would not like to see him if he lost. He's about as french a I am and that's the main problem here he looks a bit foreign

Sure you would have, 130 pound tough guy!
