Tufts has a solid roster this year. NE better be watching out this fall. 1-7 they're deeper than any team in the country.

That is wrong. Tufts may be good, but not that good. Ask yourself, "Am I a current or former Tufts athlete?" If your answer is yes, then don't post about Tufts on this thread.

Is anyone sick of seeing Calvin ranked so high every pre-season?
They are ranked high in preseason based on tradition. They won four national titles and were on the podium for ten straight years. That said, they have not performed at that level the last few years.
They have also been over ranked at the end of seasons because they are in a weak conference and a weak region. This has hidden their glaring weaknesses and lack of depth up front. They have gone out hard at nationals the last few years thinking they were better than they are and have fallen apart as a result.
They have 9 guys on the team this fall who are sub 15. Should be back in contention.

This. probably not even the deepest team in new england.
Should Calvin be ranked #1? I would say, based on the past few years, that Calvin has been overrated going into the season. But this time, just look at the statistics. Track performances don't always equate to xc, but it seems that the overall fitness level and depth is top in the nation, certainly far above NCC. Add to that a returning Nick Kramer, who may even be challenged by Kerr or Vandroos for the top spot.
calvin has 3 guys who are top-10 caliber in Kramer, Kerr, and Van Deroest. i don't think anyone else has that kind of firepower up front
Cross is a totally different beast. Calvin may have a bunch of studs up front and even a solid supporting cast but i wonder how much the past post-season collapses are going to affect them. Tradition does seem to play into cross a little more than track thats why i think the top 3 will be (in no order) Haverford, Calvin, NCC. I know there a bunch of guys who are on Tufts, but why no talk of the WIAC? I mean the who Midwest is stacked, willing to go as far to say that the 5 teams out of the MW will be atleast top 10 at Natties, look out for Wheaton.
aside from lacrosse returning their top 7, I don't see the WIAC nearly as competitive as it has been in the past. the midwest as a whole may lose it's reputation as the strongest region this season

What about NCC? Daniel Kerley (Fell last year still got 36th and is a 2x 10k All-American), John Crain (14:24 in 5k last year), Matthew Perez (5th @ 2011 XC), that sounds like it could match Calvin's firepower?
Don\'t forget Kevin Sparks on NCC, probably a top-50 guy this year.

Except he's not on NCC anymore...

Sweet Lord. You're like a 5 year old who thinks his daddy is the strongest daddy in the whole wide world.
Not only is Crain a dong, but his dong in general is actually quite small.
And in terms of predictions, 3 months of hard training can take anybody to the next level...or 3 months of laziness can bring you down. Let's see who's fit after the first few meets before accurate predictions can be made

The past 4-5 years Calvin has choked/underachieved/collapsed at the national meet. Who says that doesn't happen again this year? Granted, they are good enough that a choke might results in top 5 still. Looking through the results it appears that many of their returners have been apart of the recent trend of underachieving at the national meet the past few years. Who says it isn't in their head?
