Very good showing for Lomong who is an 800/1500 type.
When you make the 3 k final it doesn't matter what type you are.
There is no medal for the one who finishes despite it not being his wheelhouse.
Go hard or go home.

I don't think Soi should've been DQ'ed based on what happened in the middle of the last curve. However, some of the bumping on the backstretch (hard to see in the video as it switches camera angles as it occurs) were more questionable in my eyes. Still hard to warrant a DQ for it.
ooo looks like the Brit is all riled up.
Was this a quality field, relative to the one he is likely to face in London?
That was one damn impressive run by Kingsley.

It is just another case of IAAF bullying a third world country in favour of a developed one. Remember what Robles said when they DQed him from the gold medal?
A standard accusation on LR is that IAAF "protects" East African runners from doping tests because of political correctness.

Unfortunately "IAAF devoid of bias, makes fair decision" is a headline that won't get many clicks. Same things in politics. You'll never see "Romney, Gingrich, Santorum agree on uncontroversial Obama policy" from any commericalized news source.

" I hope Lopez Lomong does not do something foolish and run the 5k this summer. He is a miler plain and simple."
-good thing no one told venuste nyongabo that.
As a Brit I ought to be disappointed, but watching Lagat is a sheer joy. World class fitness, the best racing brain in the sport, and a true gentleman in victory. I'm almost rooting for him in London...

Lomong has shown good range since he was in college.
Good omen for Lagat when they give him number 326!

The USA is by far the most DQed nation, unless you think we are 3rd world.
Lagat's last lap was def not 23. It was 25-26. 7:15 - 7:41
My comment for Lomong is that a big improvement in an over-distance event for him at 3000m bodes well for his 1500.
Maybe we will see a 3:31 from him this year.
The indoor season is preparation for outdoors.
Everyone takes what they can from this event.
Lomong gets a confidence boost form being able to hang with a world class field in a distance that is longer than he is comfortable with.
Farah may draw some confidence in almost getting a medal in a distance that is shorter than he is comfortable with.
Lagat gains confidence that he can still get race sharp and win.
Lagat and Farah can both come out of this thinking this is a step towards an Olympic Gold this year at 5000m.
Lomong comes out of this thinking he can be a medal contender at the 1500.
I'm glad the DQ was dq'd. Farah deserved nothing out of this race. I thought he was being smart leading with 4-or-so to go
but I thought the idea was not to let anyone pass. So either he was outclassed or he ran tactically like an idiot.
So awesome for Kip. He makes me proud to be an American.

I didn't see the race...are you REALLY serious Lagat closed in 23.6 for the last 200m? If he can show up at the Olympics in that form or even slightly improve, WHO could outkick him???
How stupid are you? You always believe the implausible, which is why most of your comments are laughed at by the intelligent.
Farah only one step on infield, maybe he was pushed there? Not grounds for DQ. Soi cut in to lane one, before having a stride clear, maybe that is a breach of rules.
Definitely looked like he cut in too soon. Coming off the final turn and forcing an athlete into the infield should definitely have been a DQ. That move cost Farah the silver.

Hey fcku off with the plastic Brit statements on mo and same for lag at. America is a country made up of people that have come from all over the world. The melting pot right? Well, give lag at his due credit. 37 years old and a fantastic race for him. For mo, he went for it, he is NOT A PLASTIC BRIT. he moved to the uk as a child and is a citizen, end of story. I am so damn tired of let's run idiots posting crap like this calling athletes heartless like many do to rupp, or plastic as it seems to be for lag at and mo. Just go run your 17 min 5 ks out there you dciks and leave these men alone.
You obviously didn’t heard the British commentator state that a Briton had at last broken the East African domination of distance running!
Think I’m living in some sort of parallel universe.
