Now what would be really funny would be if Bolt broke the WR in one of the two 400's he's going to run in February!
And, if Bolt is to be believed, he has articulated best why Blake has at least an even chance of beating him:
"For me, it is a job. So if I have got to go out there and race against Yohan, it is OK," said Bolt..."
Whereas for Blake it is life itself rather than just a job, and it is EVERYTHING, not just OK.
THAT is why nobody should be on Bolt just yet.
Of course, I don't completely believe that statement from Bolt.
Bolt would not have a chance against Merritt if Merritt is in the best shape of his life. He previously ran 43.75, so if he is in even better shape, he could go 43.40. Bolt has never run sub 44, so it would be tough.
What's Wariner's status these days? Seems like he dropped off the Earth
Oh, BTW, Johnson was also wrong (so far) about Wariner being able to get the record.
Sheer genius.

He is quietly training and trying to stay healthy and get back to his top form. He could be a wild card for gold.

clueless as usual
tyson has been injured & not shown his potential last year
line of of form is dix
anyone with a clue about sprinting knows a peak tyson was 0.15 - 0.2s better than dix over 200
dix ran low-19.5 in brussels & gave up slightly at the end when disheartened by size of his defeat
he wouda gone high-19.4 if pushing to the end
using line of form, a peak tyson couda expected to have gone
high-19.2/low-19.3 if he'd been in that race
this is very comparable to blake
This is the single most hilarious piece of "reasoning" I have come across in my many years. Thank-you, Ventolin^3.
I have taken the liberty of copying it to permit a more in-depth analysis over time, with the intention of incorporating it into an argumentation seminar at some point.
You will receive complete attribution, of course.
For a more complete understanding, may I ask for a concise definition of "line of form"?
Also, is a "peak Tyson" 0.15-0.20s better than Dix over 200, regardless of the time run by Dix, and if so, how is this known?
Hilarious, once again, a heartfelt Thank-You.
moron
dix's best 200 before '11 was 19.69 ( +0.9 ) in excellent conditions
= 19.75 basic
tyson's best intrinsic 200, not his 19.58pb, was his 19.62 into a 0.3 on a cold & wet day
= 19.62 basic
that is 0.13s difference & the difference in conditions easily will get it to 0.20s
idiot
get a clue
prior to '11, tyson was an intrinsically 0.20s better 200 guy than dix & there is no reason not to believe a fit/healthy tyson woudn't have maintained that in '11
Carl Lewis was a jumper turned sprinter. You just don't become a jumper after being a sprinter your whole life. That is just idiotic. Bolt would never beat the WR in the long jump. While you're at it he could also play for the Boston Celtics and beat Roger Federer in a best of 5 match if he trained, right?

That slow a** white boy, can't get what he don't have. Why do slow a** white boys talk s***, about thing they can't do? What are your best times on the track. You are the one that is mentally challenger not MJ.
"You are the one that is mentally challenger not MJ."
You illiterate, toothless, KKK meth-head.
Hey Ventolin, classic!
You still have failed to answer either of the 2 questions I posed:
1) What is a concise definition of "line of form"?
2) Is a "peak Tyson" 0.15-0.20s better than Dix over 200, regardless of the time run by Dix, and if so, how is this known?
Ventolin, do us all a favor--walk us step-by-step through the logic that says first that Gay will be at his peak, and second that at this peak he will always be .20 seconds faster than Dix, no matter what time Dix runs.
Ooohh, I just can't wait...
This slow a** white boy, love to talk his s*** about blacks. How many kkk/100's do you run on Monday night? Someone told me, that you run about three in 23 low.
Hey, that's really funny, you race-baiting re-tread.
Is it mere coincidence that Ventolin^3 and the race-baiting re-treaded troll are both on this board at exactly the same time, and that they are both vulgar and base?
Out for the day.
'I don't agree with Johnson's statements about the 400. I think Bolt needs to do it SOON, or else he won't be able to do it at all.'
True, but why should he. He competes in the premier track events and does not want to do the 400m
I don't agree with everything MJ says but he is one of the best T&F commentators and normally speaks a lot of sense

it's a horse racing term where there are races every day in the world to compare athletes
2) Is a "peak Tyson" 0.15-0.20s better than Dix over 200, regardless of the time run by Dix, and if so, how is this known?
moron
anyone who has a clue about sprinting knows tyson is a superior sprinter to dix & tyson is better over 200 than 100
any idiot who saw tyson run 9.69 off a shit start & dodgy groin, wouda had no problem envisioning him run 19.2 on non-centrifugal 125m diameter brussels after watching dix 19.5-giving-up
Ventolin, do us all a favor--walk us step-by-step through the logic that says first that Gay will be at his peak, and second that at this peak he will always be .20 seconds faster than Dix, no matter what time Dix runs
imbecile
read above
in addition, tyson seemed to be getting better compared to dix's static 19.69pb from '06
Ooohh, I just can't wait...
offer something moron or f*ck off
coach--
I think he should, essentially because he is vulnerable in the 100 and 200, having nowhere to go but down, and also because I think that whatever event he happens to be doing is the "premier" event. To the masses, he IS T&F.
I think his legacy would be more impressive if he had success in the 400, rather than either continuing success or failing in the 100/200.
Of course, if he was to rule the 100/200 this year, and THEN succeed in the 400, that would be the best of all worlds...but I still think that 400 time is running out for him, for the reasons I posted earlier. You seem to agree.
Maybe a good compromise would have him running as part of the 4x400 team this year, in addition to his February 400's, and then switch to 400 next year.
I said earlier that the 400 is currently relatively weak, so he would have a better chance to succeed...but now that I think about it more, all those 400 runners should get better in an Olympic year, so maybe it would be to Bolt's advantage to wait until next year to make the move.
But then again, all the 100/200 runners will be better also...but hopefully that includes Bolt.
Ventolin^3--
You have answered NOTHING.
You have still failed to provide a concise definition of "line of form".
You have not answered the questions "Is a "peak Tyson" 0.15-0.20s better than Dix over 200, regardless of the time run by Dix, and if so, how is this known?".
You have not shown any logic that demonstrates that Gay will be at his peak, or that he will be .20 faster than Dix no matter what time Dix runs.
This is getting amusing. Please provide some answers to these simple questions, which are after all only re-statements of statements that you yourself made, put into interrogatory form.
I'm sure that your answers will be entertaining.
