On to the topic at hand. To the last guy... first off, I'm from CT, but even I know that Brent Vaughn was a Colorado HS kid. Lots of very talented runners come out of Co... you don't know about them because they never put up huge HS times because of the altitude. The fact that you think Ryan Deak is the best Colorado runner outside of Adam is a joke.
Since you're such a smart guy, here's the number of top 10 finishes/qualifiers at Footlocker XC since Goucher won in 1993:
1994: 0 top 10 finishes/0 qualifiers
1995: 0/0
1996: 0/1 (12th)
1997: 0/0
1998: 0/0
1999: 0/0
2000: 0/0
2001: 0/1 (27th)
2002: 0/0
2003: 1/2 (Ryan Deak in 6th!, 12th)
----------------------> After 2003, footlocker expands to 40 qualifiers
2004: 1/2 (John McGuire 4th - highest CO finish since Goucher)
2005: 1/3
2006: 0/4
2007: 0/4
2008: 2/4
2009: 0/4
2010: 0/1
There you have it. In the 17 years since Goucher won, Colorado has produced a total of 5 top 10 finishes, and 1 top 5 finish.
And only since FL expanded and NTN has drawn off another segment of the runners have they consistently qualified more than one runner.
CO high school running just isn't that good. No matter what you read in Running with the Buffalos.
