Is Webb going to supply Andrews with free hamburgers?

My sense is that the decision for Webb to work with Vigilante had been made some time ago, but they decided to deny any coaching/advising type relationship at the time because the NCAA compliance issues had not been worked out.
Webb could officially be there as a volunteer assistant (as Bob Kersee is at UCLA). This might be the only realistic way Alan could actually train with Bobby Andrews.
Webb could be formally coached by Vigilante outside UV official training periods.
Webb could be "advised" by Vig and officially training on his own or with a separate training group, once again likely outside UV official training.
I take it that since Webb's move has been announced to the press, the compliance issues have been approved.

Looks like you're the winner, being the first person to bring it up.
Won't be a violation if Webb is named a volunteer assistant.

Even if Webb is handing our free hamburgers willy nilly?!?
I might be crazy...but I honestly think Webb should simply return to Raczko. Though there were some inconsistencies under Raczko you can't argue when you run 3:53 as a high school senior and later produce an AR 3:46 under his system.
Go back the exact stuff that produced 1:43, 3:30, 3:46, 13:10, and 27:34. Not many guys in history have the range (1:43 - 27:34) Alan has ran...and it was all under Raczko.
Hate to see him start all over under a new system...especially when we're essentially 1 year from the '12 Trials.
Like many believe...the biggest issue with Webb is his head.
He needs to be coached by Steve Scott.
Come on, every one that has run 3:46 for the mile has either broken 3:50 8+ more times and has either an Olympic or WC medal. Webb needs to learn from a master like Scott and Spivey. 30 is not a long way for Webb. He better get it in gear. This slump is now an astounding 4 years ago, and it is profound problem.
IF Webb wants to finish his career as a merely talented runner like Jason Lunn, Stember, and Jennings that is also fine. If this is the case he might as well go to the US championships and try to finish in the top five. That is what 3:35-3:37 runners usually try to do. HE still has a chance because the US 1500 meter field has been mediocre at best this year. Manazano is in for a better crash than Webb this year.
Webb, give it a go there is nothing at all to lose. We all know you are not a 4:46 miler anymore - just compete and sneak onto the team with a 3:36+. With the exception of Ridley and Lagat all US milers are experiencing a slump just like you.

No Big Jim's any more though. Alan would have loved Big Jims.

He must really suck then
Are you seriously comparing Webb to Stember, Lunn, and Jennings? That is a complete joke. Those guys were all out for a 3:35 and I don't think any of them ever made a WC final, much less won golden league races.
Comparing him to those three is an insult to Webb.
Why not Li? Lagat, Lalang, Flagstaff. Seemed perfect.
he had his time
should have gone to OSU.
It seems like the facilities will be ok? Center for Endurance sports, specifically running. May not be the Nike complex, but it is better than what he had in Northern Va.
Nice facility , no question , Webb though needs a shrink as much as anything.
Im not sure any of this will help over the long run , he was over raced plain and simple. Greedy agent.
If he comes back we may see a flash of the old Webb , but never the athlete he was or should have been.
Rojo,
When this thread was born, I said it was a stupid decision for Webb to jump ship again and go to Vig. I said his career was over.
You emailed me personally two times defending the change:
"If Webb did choose Vig, I don't know why his career would be "over"....
"i think your fears are unwarranted."
How'd that work out?
Wow - you resurrected a two year old thread to say - "See, I told you so!". Great job, man. You just might want to consider getting a life now.
