There is no stopping in distance runner, unless you want to nullify your run. You just have to be aware and be sure that drivers are aware of you by waving at them and making sure they acknowledge you before you jump out in front of them.

I'm not sure whether you're serious or simply mocking the recklessness of some runners. Do you really believe that stopping for a red light "nullifies" your entire training session? And do you really believe that waving at cars to get the drivers' attention "before you jump out in front of them" is an adequate substitute for obeying the law?
i was being serious, however i can see why you think i was joking. Stopping on a long run and starting up again makes it much easier to continue running, It's like starting over, try it. It also had to do with the mental aspect of the sport. You can't stop during a race, obviously, if you stop during your workouts, whether you want to believe it or not, it will translate to your other workouts and eventually your races.
and to explain the traffic light situation, There are stop walks with those button initiated stop/go pedestrian features, However, i did not imply that when the light is green, and cars are soaring past you, that you cross the road, rather, there is a time in between the changing of the lights in which the cars come to a slow halt, and you are able to cross the street, which is what i'm sure he was trying to do, but the newspaper makes him seem like an idiot. No one, in the middle of a good run wants to stop and wait for a light to turn a different color, and when you're feelin' the endorphins kick in, you're awareness can be impaired.
you sir, are a tad off.
