Alistair does not care about Irish Records....
He represents Ireland because it is way better than representing South Africa. If he were to run for South Africa he would have to always be consenting to some corrupt politician's wishes if he ever wanted to run at the world championships or olympics. Look at the mess that happened with Cheune, why would he possibly want to deal with that?
Further... If he were to represent South Africa he would give up the Irish 10k and Half Marathon (althought he HM shouldn't count on a point to point course) but he would have the South African 5k and 3k records (which he doesn't have the Irish Equivelent)
Alistair is proud to represent Ireland and they have treated him well.
I thought point to points were ok as long as they complied with the 50% rule, which to be honest for NYC HM I haven't properly checked but I would imagine the start finish points are within 6miles as the crow flies.
GNR is not eligible for wr due to elevation reasons due to more than 1m per km drop

Mo Farah, Bernard Lagat, Mo Morhit, Alistair Cragg. I am sick of African-born runners switching nationalities just to have an easier go at records. If Alistair Cragg wanted a NR he should have stuck with the country of his birth and sacked up to run 59:20. Instead he goes the easy route and flips to Ireland and runs a pansy 60:49. No respect, no respect.
Nice try!
