Bingo. This information was communicated by Brooks time and again since the ID Program inception. There is far more to this program than "running fast", which is relative to begin with. Consistent updates regarding ones contribution to their communities, school teams etc. promoting Brooks and Inspiring people to get out and get active via walking / running etc. Your childish rant and bad mouthing of the program demonstrates how much you actually contributed and were involved with the program.
What an ignorant comment. I'm not fast, never said I was. Am I faster that 95% of the runners in the series? Yes. But that doesn't mean anything. I did communicate. I did email are the promoting and Inspiring I did. I received stuff for it. What don't you understand. That was not the basis on how they chose who stayed on. It was random. I was told by Steve himself that it was random. I updated him all the time. How should someone who cheated to win get to be in the program more than runners who have stories of losing over 100 pounds and inspiring others? That's not my story, but a story of a woman who did get dropped. She also coaches, is a race director, and many other things. But a cheater gets in and she doesn't. Again, the way they chose was not right and not fair to almost all the runners who got dropped over cheaters.
You have no idea how much I contributed. But Steve and the whole running community where I live does.
If you didn't write to thank Brooks for letting you be part of their program and state what you intended to do the next year, you only did part of what should be common practice. You are clearly a bad apple and they spotted it - good for them.
I guess qualifying for the past 2 marathon trials and getting back into shape for a 3rd doesn't cut it for you. Personally it doesn't matter. Point was that someone who is a much better runner than you knows that it is a given to write with updates/thanks and plans for the future, to the company that is giving you more than you deserve. They have stuck with me through tough times and wouldn't turn my back on them by seeking to scrap a better deal out of a competitor. True loyalty is something I believe in and you clearly don't.
In addition, you stated that you didn't get a chance to plead your case. My whole point in responding, other than to inform you of being a turd, was that you had every chance to show Brooks of your graditude/commitment and future plans. If you contacted all those things effectively through Steve, you would be part of the program, barring you not being a turd of a person.
Just FYI, not everyone put in their race results this past year. I forgot about that aspect of things - sorry Brooks. It was a cool idea to have that type of competition though.

I've said it already, I sent them emails. I got return emails. The runners who were chosen were RANDOM. It wasn't fair to those of us that did what they asked and informed them of what are future plans are. Just like I did and said I did all through this thread. It was RANDUMB. Calling someone a turd is freaking stupid. Seriously, who uses that word anyway. They kept someone who CHEATED and got rid of hundreds who inspired. Explain that to everyone.

YOU know why you weren't picked up.
Try being 100% loyal at all times.
You piece of sh!t.
Seriously, our country is screwed if we got idiots like the yahoo on this thread, running around. This has to be a troll attempt, either that or he needs to get some meds or a counselor of some sort.
Not once do a recalll a post from the "turd" admitting to saying thank you for accepting me in the program. A lot of crap about how he has done so much for his running community, so much so that it took away from his training. He is like a male runner version of Mother Teresa.
LocalYocal nailed it. Recently I have made a strong attempt at cutting back on harsh name calling. Turd was the first thing that came to mind that embodied everything I was feeling about the poster without feeling bad about saying it.
Best wishes in life. Continue to do good works and hopefully you can find happiness.
my last post was pointed at the Brooks ID aka wacko guy. It may read like I was bashing LocalYocal, but was intending to do the opposite.
I suck at message board life.
No worries...I knew who you were intending it towards!
Not sure why anyone is talking about "spreading their message". "Message"? There's no "message" here. None. They're trying to make more money. Period.
It was a business decision to start the program and a business decision to end it. Nothing more. Even if it had been profitable, it clearly was not profitable enough to be worth the efforts to continue. And while the OP may not think that's true, his is a completely self-serving opinion.
When it comes down to a a profitability analysis between some nobody who got dropped from the program and the people who are actually actually responsible for Brooks' bottom line, I'm gonna take a chance and bet on the bean-counters.

Please pay attention. The program did not end.

Write them a letter and thank them...thank them for allowing you to realize that you aren't "elite" after all. Thank them for allowing you to realize that just because you got a free singlet, a pair of shorts, an ID Tshirt, and a sweet discount, that you really shouldn't have been telling anyone and everyone who would listen that you were an elite sponsored athlete. Truth hurts sometimes Sally, put your big girl panties on and grow up.[/quote]
Thank you. Couldn't have said it better.
Every time the TURD (I like that name for him) writes a response it becomes evident why he was dropped. Great job Steve of identifying a bad apple.

I agree. Also if he is as good for the company as he thinks he is then he will have no trouble landing a gig with another company. I am sure that there will be several fighting for his services.
Brooks shoes bite the Grand Wazoo anyway, never had a pair I liked.
Let's say that Brooks split their program randomly. I assume based on your complaint that Brooks did not breach any written contract with you. That is, Brooks did not commit to keep giving you ID privileges in 2011 before they discontinued the ID program for several of the members, nor did they commit to give you a chance to make your case for the 2011 ID program before dropping you.
If the above is true, then I have a hard time feeling much sympathy. I've seen you make two arguments for why Brooks should have given everyone a chance to make a case for staying in the ID program: (1) because you somehow had the right to make your case (aka, because it was bad for you - or hurt your feelings); and (2) because this decision is somehow bad for Brooks's bottom line.
Argument (1) is obviously baseless. Brooks had no obligation to you to give you the chance to make a case, or even to treat everyone fairly as opposed to randomly picking people to keep. That is because the ID program was a privilege, NOT an entitlement. You may feel like it was an entitlement after getting a nice discount for a couple years, but you have no inherent right to continue getting this perk, or even to make your case for staying in the program. Once they decide to cut the cord with you, for any reason, that is their prerogative.
Likewise argument (2). You may think it is a bad idea for Brooks to randomly cut loose people in the ID program (assuming that is what they did), as opposed to carefully sifting through all 700+ people to pick out those who deserved to stay. Well, isn't it up to Brooks to decide that? Maybe this is good for their bottom line, maybe it isn't. However it turns out, Brooks is the one who is going to enjoy the gains or take the hits from that call, and Brooks is in a much better position than you to make that determination, anyway.
What it boils down to is that for a couple years, Brooks gave you a perk I daresay no other running company offered to you. For a couple years, you enjoyed that perk, on fair terms. Now they have decided not to continue that benefit. You should be happy to have had a great deal going for a couple years, and leave it at that, rather than be bitter at a company that did more for you than any other company bothered to.
BOOM! That just happened!
What's even more funny is that as these Turds try to start a shit storm out of this, stories within the Brooks ID groups are surfacing that the loudest complainers are also the same people who have beeb seen wearing other brands of shoes. Facebook is a bitch!
Yes, based on his posts here, if the "turd" communicated w/ Brooks, he would have clearly risen to the top of the list for those to be cut because they would have easily picked up on what an ass he is....the rest of the cuts may have been random but not the Turd.
Wow, this thread went crazy. No one likes the OP at all. I agree with a few of the things he said but for the most part he is a whiny little girl.
Brooks could have done a better job creating the fanatics group.
There is kind of a second class citizens feel to that group. No one likes that especially when a lot of people in the fanatics feel that they are better/ more visible runners than people selected for the real ID group.
I've been in Brooks ID 6 years. I am going to continue as a fanatics member. I have never had anything more than the free singlet and discounted shoes. I am grateful to have those. Hopefully that continues in some form. If not I will order about 10 pairs of shoes in January.
