Easy on the drinks man, it's barely 4 o'clock.
TK, you still at Princeton?
I think Ahmed is coming off of Ramadan and his training cycle is just getting going so he was off a little bit today. I'm sure it'll be a different story in a few weeks at Big Tens. Either way should be a nice race between Indiana and Wisconsin. It was about 52 degrees and windy but the course was nice and hard with good footing. It's only a matter of time that the NCAA meet will be at the Zimmer course, it's just too perfect to not have it there.
course is in middle of nowhere with no hotels or food within 20 miles! They didn't even get regional meet due to location and weather!

Ramadan is pretty far back -- it moves earlier in the year each year by about 20 days or so. The Wisconsin guys were not race sharp and still in heavy training but so were most of the other teams, so it should not have made too much ofa difference.
OU seemed to hold out some runners too. Injuries?? or are these coaches playing cat and mouse?
anyone else a little satisfied syracuse didnt do what they did last year?
princeton wasnt full either correct?
congrats to indy
wtf happened to sisson? I heard rumors that she was hurt for a little bit so it might be that. Can anyone confirm?
Wisconsin women flat out sucked it up. Wow. And Stinzi says they're "not used to running on grass yet" ... what kind of coach says that?!?! Worst excuse I've ever heard. It's freakin CROSS COUNTRY... ALL courses are on grass!!! WTF?!
They must have died at the end. In the woman's race the chip setup was working perfectly and Wisconsin was in 5th with high-100s for a score. That was probably a 3km split/scoring pad, not one at 5km or they really must have died a thousand deaths. I could not really watch the race as we were calling in marks and bibs from the other kilometer marks (the ones without chip strips.
For those that are interested, the was a high school invite as well and Hacker (Sam) lead the boys and lead West (Madison) to first, while the West Girls won with one girl with a big lead. Many of the top Wisconsin schools were there (e.g., Arrowhead, which was 2 points back in the Boys race).
Here are the results from last year; the winner is no slouch. It is exactly the same course this year, just in its second year but smoother and a little warmer although pretty cold for standing around in this year with the wind but no rain like in 2009.

Yeah it's a perfectly manicured golf course with no hills.
Not a XC course.
Homie its an actual course next to the golf course- thats maintained by the golf course grounds crew- the entire course is rolling

I agree that Michigan has a ways to go, though its worth mentioning that they only ran half the team. Give Gibbs 2-3 years to rebuild the program before judging.
"We decided to split the team between Oklahoma State and Wisconsin, and between them, we'll get a debut sense of where we are. It gives both groups an opportunity to compete against phenomenal competition and at a great venue. At an individual level, we're really looking to audition our personnel that we're going to use going forward into the Big Tens and beyond. We'll run 12 guys at NCAA Pre-Nationals -- some guys from Oklahoma State and some guys from Wisconsin. While the team goals aren't as concrete as they will be in the weeks to come -- that applied to last week as well -- we really just want to figure out what we have. Between last weekend and this weekend, it will be the first time I get to see the whole team compete in uniform and see where they are." -Gibbs
This is coming from a guy who Pr'd by what a 30secs yesterday? Cmon Steve get with the program. You're a dick and you won't come close to that time again unless your team goes back to the Panorama Farms Invitational which you will yet again hit a time that doesn't represent what you can truly run.
It's an 8k which does not measure out to be 5miles. It's short of 5miles. NEXT TIME DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU POST NUMB NUTS
Its actually 5 miles

Yes, you can watch on the videos from the last two years and look at the course graphics. The course rolls a little, then drops to its low point (call it zero for reference -- the start is at 44 or so. Over the next kilo it then rises 90 feet and drops down 50 (most abrupt section of the course and the only section that I do not like too run) to the 2nd Km mark. It then winds through a series of Ss that are laid out like switchbacks might look like, rising and then dropping 25 feet. Then it rises a bit, drops a little and for the 8Km race swings up a climb (on finishing straight it lines into the finish here). After that it essentially repeats the first loop.
The grass footing is of good quality, but it is not 'golf course' grass, being much thicker but even enough for solid footing virtually everywhere. It has not rained much in a while (in the last month there has only been an inch of rain and none in the last week). Thus, it is faster this year than last year when it was wetter with a bit of rain.
All the coaches and athletes that I have talked with have really liked the course; when asked most think it should be a Regional course and NCAA as well. I noticed that several partially bare spots from last year seem to be gone - I just noticed one small bare spot on the turn into the 2km point.
