Proving again that Rupp is in a whole different class than Ritz/Solinsky etc.
He can beat up on runners who are clearly inferior to him in a slow race, but is outclassed by even the elite US runners. I wish him the best and he may develop into a great runner, but right now he at best is barely one of the top ten US distance (1500-Marathon) runners.

How many USA track titles do Ritz or Solinsky have?
Answer: 0. Rupp? Answer: 2.
How many international (Olympic/WC) track teams has Solinsky been on?
Answer: 1 (12th, 2009). Rupp? Answer: 4 (5th, 2010; 8th, 2009; 13th, 2008; 11th, 2007).
Compare same age PRs of Solinsky/Ritz against Rupp. Advantage Rupp.
Currently Solinsky has run some nice times, but in his only championship race with Rupp this year, Rupp won when it mattered, and Solinsky didn't make the WC Indoor team.
nobody pointed out that he beat Ebuya in this race. Thats a nice pr as well. Sub 13 later in August
Solinsky was at 13:12 at 22, and has PR's more than 10 seconds faster than Rupp in both the 5 and 10k despite Rupp supposedly being a 10k specialist. That's about a second faster per lap.
You failed to mention Ritz has more Olympic experience than Rupp, beat Rupp handily in last WC, has almost 14 second advantage in 5k pr and really is a marathon specialist who has struggled with injuries his entire career.
Which same age pr's are you comparing? Just the ones for Rupp right now so it favors him? At different ages both Solinsky and Ritz and others have faster PR's than Rupp. I'll admit Rupp performs well in weak championship races like the most recent USATF, but seriously? Many top athletes didn't even bother showing up so he beat the JV squad.
I'll give him credit for showing up, and in a couple years he may be great, but people treat him like some kind of messiah and he is the most boring athlete to watch and in his best races has been completely dominated by other Americans who get much less credit.

Yeah, he ran that once, but despite that, has been second string B team ever since he graduated in 2007. A long string of mediocrity/underperformance until he pops that 26:59.

Solinsky has plently of time to peak for local races like Standford to get PRs, because he's always almost always resting up at home instead of at the Olympics/WCs.
Since Rupp can spank 12:56/26:59 Solinsky when it matters (right off the 3000m WC team), then Rupp can go well under those times as far I'm concerned.
You failed to mention Ritz has more Olympic experience than Rupp,
Uh, you realize that Ritz is older than Rupp right? Did you expect Rupp to make the 2004 Olympic team as a highschooler? I believe Ritz was actually 22nd in the Olympic trials and only got in because every other American in the bad old days was too weak to even have the standards to go. Then he DNFed the Olympics themselves. I'm not sure that's "more Olympic experience."

Rupp won 6 NCAA titles and USAs before that race, while old man Ritz being a pro for ages and ages could peak for the summer. This stuff matters.
