This was a great trolling thread by the OP.
I can tell you that things like the Olympic Trials have and always will be so far off Dean's radar.
Mind you, I think a fast(er) marathon would help his credibility among some of the LetsRun crowd.
In the end there are the aspirational and inspirational runners, Dean reaches and aims for the latter. In today's times there are far more charity runners than those who compete and are performance based.
Dean is great for getting people inspired and into fitness activities, if you want him to go away you need to take those same people and turn them into competitors. When the avg marathon time gets far closer to 3hrs then 4 you'll have done your job and maybe a BQ will mean something again as well...
