Yeah, who signed off on that race plan? I mean, Puskedra really did himself a disservice, he had no business running with Chelanga like that. Vin or somebody needs to have a long talk with him.

maybe he's trying to prove to the coaches that he's not rupp?
Wow that was.....not impressive....
I like when the announcer said that Puskedra was running a "courageous" race a lap or so before he got swallowed by the pack.
hilarious. 2k at around 5:25 in there.
Who the hell would ever pick Pussykedra to win nationals? Kid has gone well downhill since coming to Oregon.
He's a sophomore. He tried something gutsy, it blew up in his face. He still gritted out the race and never gave up or stepped off the track. It's not a big deal, it's not a sign his 'career' is going any one way or another.
It was a race that went poorly for him, a learning experience most of us on here have had and been able to get past, I imagine.
interesting...puskedra's pr is faster than chelanga's time tonight
you hate to see a kid that works hard have little payoff. hopefully he can recover this summer and have a great fall
Replace gutsy with retarded and yeah, you've got the right quote. He thinks he can run with a guy who has run 27:08? Idiotic, his team is going for team points, sit back with the rest of the field and try to pick up 4-5 points or so and outperform your seed in front of your home crowd. What he did was plain stupid.

Weak sauce final.
Chelanga looks like he didn't kill himself and should have a lot left in the tank for the 5k.
who drops a race when they are in contention for all american with 2 k to go? tool box.

Yeah, you could say that. Or, you could try to be positive. But why, right?

I'm being honest. This is not the same Puskedra who rocked it his freshman year of XC. He is running like an idiot and underperforming big time. Sorry, that's the way it is. If you don't see/think that you are as big an Oregon homer as they come and you can't be reasoned with. I hope he gets better and starts running better because he is a major talent. That's all I will say.

this is sort of right - Puskedra is a 28:30 guy, at least. He wasn't running out of his head. Chelanga won in slower than Puskedra's PR.

The NCAA Championships is a team sport - that was very poor racing tactics by Luke; hopefully he learns from it, but that does not help his team this weeekend!!!
What? I'm from Michigan. I don't give a damn about Oregon. I agree, his tactics obviously failed him. I doubt he used those tactics because he wanted to fail. This makes me think he over-estimated himself. I call this a learning experience, you call it stupid. Whatever.
It was a very poor tactical race for Puskedra. I cringed when he went with Chelanga and no one else did. Best case scenario, he hangs on to Chelanga for a few k's and gets a big enough lead to cruise home for 2nd. I get why he did it, but the team NCAA Championships is not the place to try tactics like that. Be patient, stay with the pack and go for solid points. The coaches are definitely to blame as well.
