you whiners are pathetic. go buy an island and live off the land. see how happy and free you feel after the first drought, hurricane, or famine.
of course things get out of hand with the big bankers and politicians hording wealth. that's the downside of capitalism. but the problem with your "capitalism is evil" bullshit is that you have no viable alternative. become a part of the real world, or seriously--go hide in the woods without all of the comforts capitalism has provided for us. We're sick of supporting you. see how long you last on 40 hours of relatively low effort work per week. then get back to us.
you sad morons are going to kill the west. the people who were or are really slaves would be sickened by you.
Oh hey I saw you used the same old tired cliches yourself to discredit the other post. There is no such thing as "the real world" we make our own reality, social classes, and political landscapes.
You bow down before the golden calf of capitalism like a good slave. In your mind their is only black and white. Capitalism and socialism. You are ruled by fear.. fear of change. You aren't free. No you are a slave to your beliefs. So self assured of this "reality" you call life.
Go watch tv. Go read what they write. Let the repetitive messages brainwash you. Sleep... sleep.

I agree with Uncle B. Furthermore, I think we are currently in neo-slavery. When a job dictates when you have to work, where you have to work and when you can take vacation or how many days you can be sick then you are a slave to the job. 99% of Americans will stay at the same level of socio-economic status. It scares me to think how myself and my friends are in near identical situations our parents were at our age. We're all 24 years old in graduate school hoping that we can survive in a middle class world just like our parents.
Change jobs and negotiate the terms for sick/vacation days.
I dispute that 99% of Americans will be at the same socio-economic level they were born in. You will actually move between several in your lifetime.
So at age 24 your parents were in grad school?

The majority US worker have giant houses in the suburbs and multiple cars...and can run off to Tuscany for w few days whenever they want to? Maybe in your fantasy world...or are you saying that you have these things and the hell with everyone else? Whichever it is, you are not a person to be respected
Comparatively, yes the average American worker does have a giant house. Many Americans do have multiple cars. My point is that people in the American middle class have it pretty damn good and to consider our way of life to be anything near slavery is simply stupid.
No, I can't run off to Tuscany whenever I want. That was actually the point of the comment. The other poster claimed that our system constitutes neo-slavery in part because employers control when you can go on vacation. My point is that it is silly to think that you should be able to simply get up and run off on a vacation whenever you wish. I'm glad you agree.
Depends on the situation. De facto slavery most certainly still exists in this country.
I've worked some pretty bad jobs and have witnessed it first-hand.
Remember the lives of the workers' depicted in "Fast Food Nation"? What would you call the situation some of those people were faced with?
So be glad that the masters give the american slaves (well, the white middle class ones, anyway)a few more crumbs than it gives to the other slaves throughout the world.
You have internalied your slave status --exactly whata godd slave is expected to do
Free your mind and your ass will follow
