so which milers, who currently are in 3:48 shape, should have been invited to run? the reining olympic gold medalist and another guy who just ran an easy 3:55 6 days earlier aren't exactly chumps.

I would like to see more of the fast American guys, who actually sometimes put an emphasis on indoors. Manzano has been looking tough lately and his size and finishing ability would be perfect for this track. Lomong is another one and of course Webb from 3 years ago.
In this race, it seems Baddely was the only one who really had a chance at the upset. But he was backing off the pace early on, I knew 400 in he had no chance, then Kiprop takes the lead? right there you knew Lagat was going to eat them up. The entire race start to finish was played directly into his hands. Nobody including himself left a shred of doubt that he would lose-more discussion was on his "title" after he one than there was discussion of his competitors.
meant shred of doubt he would win
Lately Lagat's come up short in August? Really? Besides Bekele, who else won two medals in men's middle distance or distance races at the 2009 World Championships ...last August?
so you think the current olympic gold medalist is a weaker competitor than an american, who also never has run at millrose, and who hasn't raced since september? where has he looked "tough" lately? he hasn't raced since september. i almost spit up my food when i saw webb listed. do you even watch track? do you actually believe that webb would have given lagat a better race than anyone else in the field? are you sure lomong is running indoors this year?
do us all a favor and leave the discussion to the adults in the room.
INDOOR track is getting better, needs big names and celebrity races ie SATCH V COSBY mile.
baddeley has outkicked lagat before. maybe that's what he was thinking numbskull
Yeah Really wrote:
\ I don't know what Baddely was thinking. He could have pushed Lagat harder than that.
The only people in the world who care about indoor track is the north east-United States and Lagat.
It's optional. If Lagat likes it that's fine. Most ignore indoors. In California we have dozens of outdoor all comers meets every weekend in the winter. West LA CC, Long Beach State, all up and down. All college track teams take a hiatus though. It started in the motion picture industry, i.e. Hollywood takes January off, no movies or TV shows are made. Some individuals do indoors if they want to but what for. In the olden days indoors was brutal on the west coast. It was a chilling war to run the west coast indoor circuit. The east never developed the brutality we had here in the west. I saw the officials still wear tuxedos and bowties at Millrose ;-)
Millrose games? Where are they held? Why haven't I ever heard of them? Are they in the U.S.?
Indoor track is pretty popular in places like Birmingham, England and Karlsruhe, Germany
indoor is a much better spectator sport, i think. more jostling, and you see the athletes come around much more often. granted, the times aren't comparable, but if you like watching races fought tooth and nail, indoor is hard to beat
