Dana's an old Aggie (as in the Converse/Reebok/Hoka Aggie Running Club), as was I. He was also the drummer in the Aggie band.
Dana's cousin was a track teammate of mine in high school, so Dana would sometimes run with our x-c team when he came up to WA from CA to visit his cousin in the early fall. So yes, Dana is a track nut in very good standing.
I'm stunned by how bad that post is. There are even ases in that horrific run-on sentence. The "." key is two to the right of the "m" key. Find it and use it.
Also, Carvey was in WW films but not in any AP films - unless you count Dr. Evil which is a rip-off of Carvey's impression of Lorne Michaels. You might be mixing Carvey w Myers.
I was surprised by Carvey's in-depth knowledge of track as well. It was very cool of him to have Hocker on.
"the key is two to the right of the m key" what does this mean as two to the right of the m key could mean anything as I don't know what you mean
NO! carvey was in austin powers as he's best friends with michael myers as they were the waynes worlds together as he was in austin powers two as smokin
yeah i was very surpirsed two at carveys real good gnaw ledge as hes a very big celebrity as there very busy dealing with LA and movies as track is very different then that as he must be real dedicated to track to have that sort of info as he has a lot of info
Him and Doyle Brunson the best celebrity runners. I think Brunson was Texas state champ in the mile (4:43), ran sub-4:20 in college and registered interest for the NBA.
I think Bruce Durn ran a 1:58 1/2 mile in the '50's & Robin Williams was sub 2 as well.
Luke Wilson ran a sub-50 400 and a sub-2:00 800 while in high school at Saint Mark's in Texas which is impressive since I don't think that school has produced any runners of note.
I enjoyed the interview. Dana Carvey is like Malcolm Gladwell in that clearly he loves this stuff. The two could make a pretty interesting podcast for us track nerds just riffing.

The band was "Mr Green and the Men from Modesto."
I knew there was an Aggie connection but didn't realize he was actually in it.
You know, now that I think about it, I don't actually remember seeing him race in a plow singlet or listed in Aggie race results. So he may have been more of an honorary Ag.

Speaking of which, Malcolm Gladwell was/is no slouch of a runner.

Isn't Saint Marks the school that the Brojos attended?
Agreed. Good questions, good answers, relaxed and fun vibe to it. The one thing I was a little surprised at, but maybe shouldn't be, given Cole's whirlwind of the past few days, is that he seemed to have no idea, or could not recall what Josh Kerr's time was.

cole on his form flying out the window at end of race
Cole: „I‘ve found out, and my coach has found out, that I‘m gonna do anything, I‘m gonna turn my form to sh!t if I have to, just to get to the line first, which is not ideal. But if you look at my high school videos and my college videos even, of finishing a race, y‘know, my form‘s all over the place, I‘m going side to side. And the idea (of running with good form) is to keep everything moving straight forward.„
“And just seeing that tells me, y‘know, something in my brain flips where, I‘ll do anything in my power to get there. And as I‘ve gotten stronger and fitter, my form has followed and I‘ve been able to stay aligned and that‘s also — it helps you go faster if you can do that.“
carvey is into track on the national level, and understands the sport, but not sure how in depth he is on an international level.
he didn't even know how to pronounce Jakob's name.
i don't know why all the vote downs. i like carvey and enjoyed the interview.
but he called Jakob Yay cub. a few times. and then asked hocker exactly how it was supposed to be pronounced. just pointing out that it seems he isn't into the international scene.
