Nice to have Steve Cram and Paula Radcliffe commentating for the BBC because both of these people really know their stuff unlike others.
Enough with the slo-mo. This isn't a tourist infomercial.

Maybe, just saw Melly drop out
Unfortunately this is what you get when you have a trials race six months before the actual event. You barely ever get the actual three best athletes to the start line.
Maybe instead of guaranteeing the top three spots at the trials as automatic qualifiers, USATF makes it discretionary that they can choose the best three/most ready from the trials results.

Sponsor's contracts say otherwise. If you don't start you are NOT an Olympian.
Contract should have a clause against DNFs
I don't think sponsors want this. They would benefit alot more if an athlete tried to medal and blew up horrendously at like mile 18 and DNF, versus if they ran a "safe" race for 30th.
Kenyans and Ethiopian's are helping each other, suffering brings people together...good to see
So 41 minutes in - majority of the coverage is of the bums that will drop out or shouldn’t have started the race.
Woah Jepchirchir making big move

they're not going to finish. give them their "15 minutes" and move on

O' Keefe is done that is really sad I wanted her to medal. That one hurts.
This French woman is way braver than any of the cowardly men.
at 12.7 km there was a big guy keeping pace pretty well for 200+ meters

Yeah seemed unnecessary but its split up the pack considerably and Hassan is trying to close the gap
