A tad too much running in lane 2 to medal, but a great race nonetheless.
Yeah. If you watch Jacob I. 5000k, he’s not going to move off the rail until it’s time to pass. Would be interesting to see how much various athletes actually ran in each race.
NO, NO, NO... WRONG! ROBUST, FLEET-FOOT SEDJATI is CLEAN and SHINY. History will give VIPAM the Vulture NO SATISFYING from delayed western medal upgrade. Hoppelly CORN BOY will remain DEVASTATED in position 4. SEDJATI will as you Americans say.... "Beat the Case" and bask TALL and REVERENTIAL in BRONZED STATUE GLORIOUS. Abqa ’la khir.
That is the ONLY LOGICAL explanation.... especially considering at the start of the year we were discussing the drought of the men's 800. Now we have 5 sub 1:42 guys and 8 or 9 sub 1:43 guys... 😒 WTH. WR potentially could go to 3-4 guys within the next 2-3 year. Yeah RIGHT. 😳
The circumstantial evidence is everywhere. Paris athletics oozes juice from every pore.
The run up to Paris 800 oozes juice from every one of the medalists' 1:41s, and from Hoppel's 1:42 too. You don't just everyone suddenly smash through that 1:43 barrier for a special few months, not just because a big meet is coming. That's not how it works. You have to be physically able.
the really sad thing about this juice fest is, it's 50/50 at best whether any given juicer will be caught, even after a few years (like lone post-Rudisha 1:41 man Nigel Amos) so a few will almost surely get through and have their times legal forever.
Someone at the top has greenlighted all this. That's the only way it could possibly happen. I'm done with following the sport at the elite level. Let it die.
Maybe the only US athlete not rewarded with a medal for running the best race of their life this Olympics. I hate to use the word unfair, but I feel for him.
The only non relay men’s race that an American did not medal. he gave it a great shot.
For everyone saying Bryce will be upgraded because all the medalists are possibly juicing, are you saying Bryce is the benchmark and anyone ahead of him regardless of time is suspect? Remember Bryce was right up there with them time-wise even while running mainly on outside (longer distance, more energy) and being a medal threat to the end! Do we think Cole Hocker is juicing as well based on how he dominated the 1500m? Are we expecting Kerr to be upgraded to gold soon or in future as well? If your answer to my last question is a NO, then stop crying about petty stuff. Your crap and American athletes' crap just smell like anyone else's!

No most are saying the guy whose room and coach’s room got raided might result in this. Say what you will about Wanyonyi and Arop or Hoppel, but none were part of a doping sting operation at the Olympics.
#6 all-time, would have been #4 all-time before today
Obliterates the NR of 1:42.34 by Brazier. The title should probably say NR since the AR (area record) was broken by Arop in 2nd.
Looks like temps were in the low 90s in Paris Saturday? I don't have the specifics on it. Does anyone know?
Sundays forecast is in the 90s. Really good temps for sprinting. Anything over 90 is ideal for 99 percent of track events.
Over 90 degrees produces the most PRs for basically every track event up to the 5000.
I think all major track meets should take place in southern Texas or southern Florida in 100 degree heat and high humidity. It's the only way to be 100 percent sure of a personal record. Does anyone else agree?
Or what about indoor track meets with the heat turned on to at least 93??
Outstanding race by Grant. Selfishly hope the investigation of Sedjati leads to this being a bronze. Much respect to the top 2, they have had fantastic duels the last couple years. More fitting to see them top the podium over anyone else.
You know that country with 97 cases in the AIU?
And you keep defending them with a pseudo-ethic borrowed from your mother USA
Of course I think all of them ran a great race and they are elevating the game every year with harder training, better equipment and good coaching. When someone starts talking about how the other guys are juicing but our guy is clean even though he barely lost to the "juicing ones" make no sense at all. If the suspected juicers were way separated and beating everyone by over a second and looking like it's so easy for them, I would kind of agree with why you suspect them!

Algeria have a single case AIU vs 14 case for US
Algeria has an identity and culture
Algeria has no Marion Jones or Lance Armstrong history
Algeria has a savant Ben Badis
Algeria has the first African winner of Mathematical Olympiad
Algeria has worldwide name Zidane, Karim Benzema (they earn 100X what earn Jakob)
Do you have a name or a borrowed, but I'm sure you have only your legs and your misere ...

Everyone does realize this right?
Ok just found out the high temp was 82 in Paris for Saturday August 10th, 2024. Not bad.
About 10 more degrees heat and there definitely would have been more personal records.
Anyone running a track event at 12pm in 70 degrees is at a dis-advantage when going for personal records compared to someone running at 6pm in 82 degrees.
Ok so looking back at the weather in Paris the hottest day was on August 1st with a high temp of 86 degrees for track and field. The rest of the days from August 2nd to August 10th were 82 degrees and below. So not the best temps for sprinting up to 5000.
Everything would have been faster in 93 degrees and above.
What about calling up the scheduling department and moving track meets in cold cities to hot cities? Every major meet in the USA should have a high emphasis on placing the meet in high heat and high humidity.
If no-one is thinking about that then maybe someone should start thinking about that.
true, but given the super shoe era and the fact that there are more "notes" on the wikipedia page, the 2012 was still my favorite. 6 of the 8 runners in 2012 ran their lifetime bests. 2024 just had a higher average time
