His pretty rapid and unexpected decline over the past few years is set against a back drop of a doping bust bonanza in Kenya and his training group. Why have has his performances tailed off so quickly and at the same time of so many drug busts? The two seem too intertwined to me
He ran 2:02 in September.
Love Kipchoge & would be crushed if he ever got popped. Who knows. But he's 39 now. His marathon results are starting to look more like Bekele's over the last few years -- inconsistent but still with some good ones. Think it's just age catching up with him. Harder to stay healthy & make it through a build. If he keeps running for 2-3 more years would expect 50% DNF/DNS & 50% podiums. He's got enough lifetime miles to have a shot when he's healthy. That clearly wasn't today.
