Does he still get a gold medal for running a 47.27? And we were saying putting Lyles on there would have been a charity gold medal. Geez, he at least could have done a 45(if healthy)
But it was people like me clamoring to see Quincy run. Lesson learned, I don’t know better than the coaches. I feel like the coaches got pressure to do this for publicity.
Old enough to race in a men’s event, old enough to be criticized.
Despite how physically talented he is he's still 16 in his psychological development and doesn't need grown ups ripping him on SM. Save your criticism for those who put him in this situation.
The fact of the matter is they may have rolled the dice so as to have Hall and maybe Norman totally fresh for final, and can the decide which of the 3 guys who ran 44 +/- today (as well as Benjamin) they want to use in final. They may have figured 47 plus 3 44s would get them to 2:59-3:00 and a place in the final. But I am speculating. I guess I am assuming they knew Wilson had some sort of issue going on.
Yesterday I posted that I was against him running because this is a situation for professional grown @ss men. Well... look at this result..
This kid should have years and years of 4x4s and big races in his future, but we are deep enough in this event to use one of our PROFE$IONAL track athletes and NOT a high schooler.
The Men's side of the T&F is different than the women's and this aint gymnastics. I know we all wanted the story, but we shouldnt let that get in the way of the performance.
How many Americans have run 44.20 or faster this year? Since it's so deep it should be plenty of names.

Are you fukking kidding? Everybody knows better than the USA relay coaches.
you can talk about his age, lack of experience etc as much as you like, and while they are of course valid points, that doesn't explain running 3 seconds off your best, looking notably ragged while doing so. Clearly something else going on here
He's been senational this year and, significantly, extremely consistent. This for me is the most head scratching perofmance of the games so far, and there have been a few
Not to be too conspiratorial, but look at what happened only 1 year ago with the U20 100m record holder. 44.20 causes a couple of red flags to show up by virtue of the time itself - there's no suspicious progression but running 44.20 at 16 makes you wonder. He's not in the registered testing pool (filter by reverse athlete name (i.e. Z to A) and look at page 9:

You're old enough to put your name to your words. If you don't then you're nothing but an anonymous turd. You should'nt be anywhere near our sport, especially around our youth.
The only words with regard to a 16 year old who made it to the Olympics should be words of encouragement.
What's your name, Son? Even a coward has a name?
"BlackLineHugger" is actually named James Smith. You can look him up.
Speaking of putting a name to your words: your name is "malmo"?
I've seen you post on these boards countless times. I never expected you to be this principled defender of the youth of our country. You seem to hate everyone else. What age does someone have to reach before you can start loathing them?
Anyway, I didn't think posters were being particularly harsh on Q. Wilson. Mostly just questioning the decision of the coaching staff to let him compete in an important race like that. Agree or disagree, you have to admit it's a fair question. Did he belong in that race? In his current shape, clearly he did not. Should the coaches have known? Yes! It's not like they have a whole lot else to do.

Dear Malmo, Get your facts straight. I made no negative comment about Quincy. I simply said that if you are old enough to be a participant in an event, you are old enough to receive criticism. Criticism is not necessarily negative nor harsh. Read back and see I made no actual criticism. Read critically, try to stay calm and polite. Have a blessed day. I wish Quincy all the success possible in his future.

Asinga had one out of competition test and look what happened...
Unfortunately, by virtue of his performance, some people are going to wonder this now. I don’t think he is, but don’t put yourself in this position if you know you’re not prepared to race.
After a pretty awful 1st leg of the relay, when asked about his own performance, he admitted he "wasn't 100% myself". He declined to explain further, only saying, “There’s a lot of different things, but I’d rather not answer.”
Let's guess - one of the track ladies (most likely a certain "influencer") got to him in the Olympic Village and he had to get an antibiotic shot and still isn't 100% recovered.
