Sha'Carri doesn't sound like an American name.
Grant Fisher does!

You love to see it.
How many salty interviews is she going to give for the next four years because people dare to bring up something in the past? 🤯🤯🤯
I don’t consider her trash, but was happy to see her lose
And let’s note the difference in celebrations here. Alfred ripped her own name off her uniform to celebrate her country after she won.
She made it about Saint Lucia.
Richardson keeps hers on, does 3 laps around the track and celebrates herself before finding the flag for the photo op.
If you have been listening to Ato Bolden all along, he said that Alfred would be tough to beat.
Pure fear on her face coming on to the track. The race was lost when she got on the plane.
'Not ready for gold yet. She'll shine in 4 years.
Agreed. Let’s keep some big picture perspective here. Sha’Carri is a world champion and Olympic silver medalist. That’s extraordinary. She still has a chance to win Olympic gold in the 4x100 relay. And she’s only 24. Very good chance she’ll be back in four years with home country advantage in LA.
I think the headline is a little over the top. The reality is she needed to be very good to win this race,. She was far from very good but I think some are seeing that she ran 10.71 at the Trials and then 10.87 tonight and are overracting. We need to consider wind.
Correcting for wind, Sha'Carri ran 10.86 today and 10.76 at the Trials in Eugene. Alfred ran the equivalent of 10.71 today. So if Sha'Carri runs like she did at World last year (10.65 into -0.8) she winds but Sha'Carri has only run the equiavlent of sub-10.70 a handful of times (2-3?). I know she in 2021 on May 9she ran 10.77 into a 1.7.
It seems to me that Sha'Carri for some reason wasn't in shape at the beginning of the year. If you cant break 23 seconds in a 200 in April, it's kind of a miracle she was even contending for gold, right?
What an absolute bust of a race. Sha’Carri hasn’t looked right since she laid an egg in the 200m finals in Eugene. Solid first round, poor second round and garbage final.
Maybe she will run some after the Olympics and actually perform like she was most of the year until that 200m final. But that performance was just embarrassing.
Wonder what Dennis Mitchell will have to say after both Richardson and TT performed so badly.
.
On my tv it rained on all athletes ...
TT was fine. She was within a tenth of her wind legal PR today, a PR which came on likely the fastest track on the planet.
The thread was started BEFORE the race, so I was anticipating Sha’Carri to choke, and I would say her slow start would point in that direction. But of course if she had won I might have gone into hiding. I do believe Sha’Carri choked and I do believe that many of us would have choked, and nobody should be calling her trash.
So, I used this term right after race was over to a good friend. It never sounds good , obviously. But, I do not care about Rojo wind conversions or any of that, she was next to last or close to last, out of the blocks. she is not a great starter, but this race was well over by 50M mark, it was a thrashing, non competitive race. People can call it whatever they want, but when the lights are on? Gotta be better than that.
I just saw the reaction times? It was worse than I thought, that's not just a bad start.....yikes
Julian Alfred has been a force for a while. She was right there the whole time. This is another case of people only seeing what the media tells them to see. NBC has done the sport a disservice. They hyped Mu so much that now few know or care who our 800m runners are out there. So many comments on social media are lamenting that Mu isn't there instead of celebrating a great first round by Nia Akins. The same with Sha'carri. If you were just tuning in to T&F you would think she was our only 100m runner out there when our whole 100m team made the finals. I think hyping an athlete up to be larger than life ahead of the competition adds a massive amount of pressure. I think it affected Sha'carri and I think it affected Mu at trials. They do the same thing with gymnastics. You would think Simone Biles was the only gymnast on our team.
she did not choke, she lost to better conditioned runner, as the eliminating rounds showed
same as it been for ever.......sells
That's in the past, and she's now a better person.
Once she smokes some pot she'll get over it.
